feat: label commit sources and filter their visibility - #1168
Commits currently give readers no indication that they came from a terminal, workflow, or agent. Add short cli, ci, and ai badges, plus bot on Tom/World replies, and account settings for readers who want to hide particular channels.
Matching top-level commits disappear from lists before pagination. Replies, quoted commits, ancestors, and direct links keep placeholders with an explicit temporary Show action. Your own commits stay visible, and Tom/World have no filter toggle.
Changes
Sign CLI/CI and AI declarations in the terminal client and GitHub Action; accept the same declarations through the signed API. Workflows use ci instead of cli; either source can also carry ai. Keep legacy posts and clients unclassified.
Apply account preferences to logs, ranked candidates, profiles/pins, starred commits, link lists, search, notifications, and API responses. Redact hidden bodies, translations, polls, previews, and images until explicit reveal, preserving thread descendants.
Add Settings → Visibility and signed API settings/reveal resources. Invalidate encrypted browser history and prefetches after settings changes so Back cannot restore previously visible content.
Keep narrow settings tabs scrollable, preserve deliberate scrolling across unrelated renders, and expose the selected tab after width changes. Handle failed saves/reveals, and read temporarily revealed commits in a scrollable dialog so neighboring replies stay still. Update the posting rule to require AI disclosure.
Export provenance/preferences to their owner and clear provenance with deleted content/accounts.
Prevent storage of temporarily revealed API responses with Cache-Control: private, no-store, matching the web reveal. Preserve the current production graph/composer layout and suppress the extracted composer for filtered commits.
New stored data follows the existing account-deletion lifecycle:

Retain immutable declared terminal/workflow origin for badges and filtering
composer test:lint, composer test:type-coverage (100%), composer test:types, and bun run build: passed. Existing lint warnings remain.
bun run test:unit: passed, with all 618 TSX cases across 48 files and 194 Node cases, including the wrapper. Integrated production b3ded176 after its complete hosted test run passed; its upstream notification-test correction resolves the previously reproduced failures.
Focused endpoint/signature/script tests cover overlapping categories, tampering, legacy clients, pagination, own commits, bot exclusions, placeholders, descendants, reveal authorization, account deletion, and exports. New component tests are registered in both collection/type configurations.
Compared the actual base/head Laravel apps with identical fictional demo content at 1440×900, 1366×650, and 390×844, in light/dark. Current repeated wide → narrow transitions keep the active settings tab visible; height-only changes preserve manual scrolling. Current Profile/Devices navigation records no layout-shift entries and zero horizontal overflow. Carried reveal, polling, save and failure measurements remain applicable to unchanged behavior: delayed reveals preserve placeholder geometry and return focus on close. First-load sidebar shifts are disclosed below; resize correctness is verified through tab geometry, not a zero-CLS claim.
Simulated 503 failures verify saves remain unchanged and reveal can be retried. Local sign-in's expected Inertia 409 redirect is distinguished from application errors.

The labelled component harness uses the real PageTabs component to exercise repeated width changes, deliberate horizontal scrolling, an unrelated rerender, and explicit selections. Its Widen/Narrow/Refresh controls are verification controls, not application UI.
950 ms delay simulated locally. All six current size/theme cases recorded no layout-shift entries and zero overflow; closing preserves the original placeholder geometry.
iPhone 18 Pro Max, iOS 27, Safari simulator. Fresh touch verification covers root Reply opening exactly one composer, a typed local draft with Reply/Cancel usable above the keyboard, cancellation, filtered reply reveal/close, and expanding a visible human descendant under a filtered AI parent. No draft was submitted. Browser controls and bottom navigation remain usable. Fresh final-head settings touch checks cover horizontal tab scrolling and Profile/Devices client navigation. Native orientation changes were unavailable; resize transitions were checked through browser viewport changes. No Android or physical-device claim.

This includes both production integrations, API reveal cache policy, manual-scroll preservation and the responsive correction. No actionable blockers remain.

The intermediate 21-file set was also reviewed for unchanged manual-scroll and settings behavior.
The reviewer verified all manifests, inspected actual pixels and sampled recordings, exercised the app and before/after component harness, and independently verified repeated resize, height-only changes, deliberate scroll preservation and selected-tab visibility in both themes. Suites were assessed through supplied logs; native footage/screenshots are simulator evidence. Continuous recording playback, native orientation, Android and hardware coverage are not claimed. Hosted checks for this newly published head must run separately.
Limitations
The unchanged desktop legal-footer sidebar has a first-load layout shift: approximately 0.00353 at 1440×900 and 0.00543 at 1366×650, in both themes; mobile has none. Before/after values match. This is separate from the fixed selected-tab behavior and the zero-shift client-navigation/reveal measurements.
Source/AI labels authenticate the author's declaration; they do not independently attest workflow execution or detect undisclosed AI. Historical posts and old clients remain unclassified.
Native client repositories are separate; this change supplies the server/API representation. Android and physical-device verification were unavailable.

Walkthrough
The change adds source and AI metadata to commits, user-configurable filtering for those channels, and routes to manage preferences or reveal an individual filtered commit. Filtered commits use reduced representations in APIs and the interface. Exports, content erasure, documentation, and tests also cover the new metadata and visibility behavior.

Commit representations include channel and filtered-state data. Queries exclude commits in channels hidden by the viewer, while preserving the viewer’s own commits. Filtered commit responses omit content fields.
Authenticated web and API routes read and update hidden-channel preferences. The settings page provides switches for cli, ci, and ai. Individual reveal routes return a commit without its filtered representation.
Commit cards, replies, and quotes show channel badges and a filtered-content placeholder. Filtered commits omit content and actions. The visibility rule text now prohibits undisclosed AI-generated posts.

No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The inspected new capabilities are scoped to the authenticated account’s preferences and an individually authorized commit. They do not add administrative authority over another account or turn the temporary reveal into a persistent visibility grant.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — Version-two terminal provenance is covered by distinct SSH signature namespaces, validated after signature verification, and injected into the authenticated request. Changing or removing the version selector changes the verification namespace rather than silently dropping the declaration. These are authenticated author declarations, not independent attestations of real-world origin.
observed — Both reveal requests authorize through the existing isVisibleTo predicate before returning an unfiltered representation. Author access, approved-status requirements for other viewers, and block checks remain in that predicate; reveal clears only the in-memory filtering marker.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — Web and API reveals return private, no-store responses. Authenticated browser history is encrypted; successful web preference saves request history clearing and flush browser prefetch caches. Save and reveal failures report errors rather than taking the success path, and revealed content is held in component state rather than persisted as a preference exception.

Mark the API reveal response as private and non-cacheable.
When an authenticated API client reveals a filtered commit, CommitResource includes the full body. This response has no Cache-Control header, so a private HTTP cache can retain the temporarily revealed content after the visibility setting changes. Apply the same policy as the web reveal.

Move the active-tab centering out of the inline ref callback.
The ref callback is a new function on every render, so React detaches and re-attaches it each time. When PageTabs re-renders for any reason, nav.scrollLeft resets to the active tab and discards the user's manual scroll. The repository also uses babel-plugin-react-compiler. The compiler can memoize this callback on scrollable alone. In that case the callback does not run again when the active tab changes, and the new tab is not centered.
Use an effect keyed on the active tab. Add useEffect and useRef to the imports from react. The imports are outside the changed range.

test:unit selects only tests/Unit/*.test.ts, so it excludes tests/Unit/CommitVisibility.test.tsx. The Composer test wrapper delegates to this command, and CI invokes that wrapper. Configure test:unit to run the TSX files with the project's JSX-capable test runner. Do not only add the .tsx glob to the Node command, because Node's type stripping does not transform JSX.
