ApprovabilityVerdict: Needs Human Approval Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — This adds new scope-wide and project-wide archive workflows, including permanent deletion of multiple conversation histories through production UI and mutation paths. Because it is a substantial user-facing capability with irreversible bulk side effects, human review is warranted. You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. Learn more. |

Archived-thread batch operations apps/web/src/hooks/useThreadActions.ts, apps/web/src/hooks/useThreadActions.test.ts, apps/web/src/hooks/useThreadActions.permissions.test.ts |
The hook adds sequential batch unarchive and delete operations. It refreshes each reached environment, stops on interruption, and returns the first other failure. Deletion confirmation can use a supplied title when the thread shell has no title. Tests cover batch failures, interruption, and confirmation cancellation. |
Archived-thread settings controls apps/web/src/components/settings/ArchivedThreadsPanel.tsx, apps/web/src/components/settings/SettingsPanels.archive.browser.test.tsx |
The panel adds archive-wide, per-project, and per-thread actions. Pending actions block overlapping actions according to scope. Bulk deletion requires local API availability and confirmation. Tests cover locking, cancellation, stale menus, failure reporting, and retries. |

Bulk deletion increases the amount of history one action can permanently remove. Confirmation, environment-scoped identities and existing permission checks limit exposure. The main design risk is concurrent restoration: a thread restored elsewhere can remain in the confirmed deletion batch.
Retained concerns
- Low · reliability · inferred: Bulk deletion inherits snapshot-based archive membership: it sends confirmed environment/thread IDs without an archive-state precondition. A concurrent restoration can therefore be followed by permanent deletion of a selected thread. The underlying single-thread semantics predate this PR, but the new project-wide and scope-wide callers increase the destructive reach; panel-local locks do not coordinate other clients.
Security review details
-
Security Blast Radius
- inferred — One confirmed action can affect every displayed archived thread across the selected connected environments, subject to each target's operation permission. The inspected caller does not substitute unscoped IDs or automatically include future archive additions.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
- observed — Bulk deletion fails closed when the confirmation API is unavailable or consent is declined. Pending guards block overlapping bulk/row actions and recheck stale context-menu callbacks. These are local interaction controls, not cross-client locks or substitutes for server authorization.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
- observed — Pending locks are released through finally cleanup even when execution rejects. Expected interruption suppresses error reporting, while ordinary failures are reported; recovery therefore relies on refreshed state rather than an all-or-nothing result.
Hardening Proposals
- proposed — If deletion must apply only to threads still archived at execution, add an atomic archive-state or version precondition to the mutation contract and report changed targets as skipped. A client-side reread alone would not close the race.

Full details: Title check
-
Explanation
The title "feat(web): unarchive or delete all threads in the archive scope" matches the main change: the PR adds Unarchive all and Delete all actions above the archive list, scoped to the current project/environment view. It is a conventional commit title in plain language and names the affected area (web). The title does not mention the confirmation step or the shared batch helper, but it does not need to cover every detail.
Full details: Description check
-
Explanation
The description follows the repository template in substance. It has a clear change summary with a Before/After comparison, notes on scope and the prior-approval requirement, and verification details (browser regressions, lint, typecheck, and permission tests, plus a manual dev-client check). It describes the problem only indirectly, because the Problem section is absent, and it does not name a triaged issue or maintainer approval comment in the Scope and approval section. The description also says that Desktop and real partial server failures were not retested, and it does not include the template's explicit mention of an approval link. These gaps are non-critical in the context of a layered PR that inherits its approval from
#22168.

closing at @StiensWout's request under Establish the problem and scope first. Adds scope-wide and per-project bulk unarchive and permanent-delete workflows without the required product-direction approval. The body explicitly says approval remains needed, and the earlier same-scope proposal was closed by a maintainer for this exact missing approval. Discuss the bulk archive actions in Ideas and link explicit scope approval before resubmitting or requesting reconsideration. thanks for trying to help improve t3 code. if you think this closure was a mistake, please open a fresh pr addressing the requirement above, and link back to this one. |
Add an archived-thread count and Unarchive all / Delete all above the archive list. They act on the threads shown by the current project/environment scope. Delete always confirms the thread count. Both buttons use the shared small size and standard icons for consistent spacing and alignment.
This reuses #22168’s guarded bulk handler and batch methods. The incremental change is 29 UI lines plus two browser regression cases; it inherits #22160’s icon-only per-thread buttons.
Direction approval remains needed under CONTRIBUTING’s prior-approval rule, as with #22168 and the earlier #13936 proposal. Web and desktop share this panel; mobile’s archive UI is separate.
Before (#22168)
After
Deletion uses the confirmed thread IDs. The existing delete API does not recheck archive state at execution, so a thread unarchived by another client during the batch can still be deleted. An atomic archive-state precondition is outside this UI change.
Verification: the dev client showed four archived threads across two projects and
Delete 4 archived threads?; Cancel preserved all four and released the controls. Ten browser regressions pass, including both list-wide actions and both project actions. Focused lint, web typecheck, panel React Compiler coverage, batch-helper tests, and permission tests pass. Successful list-wide unarchive was verified before this split. Desktop and real partial server failures were not retested.Screenshots are lossless 2880×1800 PNGs from a 1440×900 viewport at 2× display density, using the same dataset.
