ApprovabilityVerdict: Needs Human Approval Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — This PR adds project-level bulk unarchive and permanent bulk deletion of archived conversation threads, including new confirmation and batch mutation behavior. Because the deletion action is a new irreversible user-facing capability, human review is appropriate. You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. Learn more. |

- Line 3478: Replace the unsupported ??= operator in the loop containing
firstFailure with an explicit null check that assigns result only when
firstFailure is null, preserving the existing failure-handling flow.
- Around line 3509-3517: Update the bulk-delete callback in
deleteSelectedThreadEntries within the SettingsPanels flow to call deleteThread
with skipArchivedThreadsRefresh enabled while preserving deletedThreadKeys. Add
and honor this option in deleteThread so both per-entry archive refresh paths
are skipped when requested, leaving the existing final refreshArchivedThreads()
to refresh the archive once.
- Around line 3472-3484: Extend unarchiveThread with an optional refresh control
that defaults to enabled, and guard refreshArchivedThreadsForEnvironment
accordingly. Update handleUnarchiveAllThreads to call unarchiveThread with
refresh disabled for each thread, preserving its single final refresh after the
bulk operation.

ScopedThreadRef collection, derive its keys with scopedThreadKey, and add them
to pendingThreadKeys before starting the action; remove those keys when the
action settles while preserving existing pendingBulkGroupKey behavior. Update
each bulk-action call site to compute threadRefs once and pass the same array to
both runBulkAction and its handler, so withPendingThread and existing disabled
checks block concurrent row and context-menu actions.

167-187: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winAssert the complete bulk-action targets.
The fixture contains one project and one environment, and the test checks only that the action mock was called once. A regression can therefore pass while using the wrong project, environment, or thread IDs, or while omitting members from a multi-environment group.

closing at @StiensWout's request under Establish the problem and scope first. Adds project-wide bulk unarchive and permanent deletion workflows without the required approval. The author acknowledges the missing direction approval; the linked predecessor #13936 was explicitly closed by Julius for these same workflows and directed back to Ideas. Its existing screenshots and tests do not cure that missing approval. submission evidence: "This revisits #13936; maintainer direction approval is still needed under CONTRIBUTING’s prior-approval rule." Obtain explicit maintainer approval for project-wide bulk archive actions in Ideas, then link that approval when requesting reconsideration. thanks for trying to help improve t3 code. if you think this closure was a mistake, please open a fresh pr addressing the requirement above, and link back to this one. |
Clearing a project’s archive currently requires acting on each thread. Each project header now has an overflow menu with Unarchive all in project and Delete all in project. Delete confirms the project and thread count.
The shared batch helper runs existing thread commands sequentially and refreshes each affected environment once. Row and bulk actions share a live guard, including menus opened before a batch and delete confirmation. Failures release the guard and report the first error. The icon-only row buttons from #22160 are inherited.
This revisits #13936; maintainer direction approval is still needed under CONTRIBUTING’s prior-approval rule. Web and desktop share this panel; mobile’s archive UI is separate.
Before (#22160)
After (project actions only)
Deletion uses the confirmed thread IDs. The existing delete API does not recheck archive state at execution, so a thread unarchived by another client during the batch can still be deleted. An atomic archive-state precondition is outside this UI change.
Verification: in the dev client, the project menu showed
Delete 2 archived threads in oxytype?; Cancel preserved all four threads. The page has no list-wide action bar. Eight browser regressions pass for both project actions, stale menus, cancellation, failure recovery, and independent row locks. Batch-helper and permission tests, focused lint, web typecheck, and panel React Compiler coverage pass. Earlier verification confirmed that project deletion and unarchive affect only the selected project. Desktop and a real server failure partway through a batch were not retested.Screenshots are lossless 2880×1800 PNGs from a 1440×900 viewport at 2× display density, using the same four-thread dataset.
