### Repository pages

Every public GitHub repository has a page on /dev/null at `/github/{owner}/{repo}`, such as `/github/laravel/framework`. It gathers every commit and reply that links to the repository, or to anything in it like an issue, a pull request, or a file, newest first, so you can read what developers here are saying about a project in one place. A `.git` clone URL counts too. Only the link counts: writing `owner/repo` without `github.com` doesn't, and a link to a similarly named repository like `laravel/framework-docs` doesn't either. Names match regardless of case.

The page shows the repository's name, description, and star count as GitHub reports them, refreshed about once a day, plus how many of the commits you can see mention it and how many people wrote them. Private repositories, deleted ones, or a GitHub outage leave out those details but still list the commits. The page follows the usual visibility rules: guests and crawlers can read it, only approved commits show to others, and muted and blocked people are filtered out. For now the page is reached by its address; links in commits still open GitHub.

### Replies and threads

Reply to a visible commit to continue its thread. Replies use the same text limits, image support, moderation, and submission rate limit as commits. Threads expand inline, a few replies at a time: choose 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25 in Settings → Appearance (3 by default). Opening a commit's own page shows its ancestors and replies. Quotes of a commit are listed among its replies and counted with them. Profiles have a separate Replies tab for authored replies. A reply cannot also be a quote, contain a poll, or be scheduled.

Match the GitHub host, not a path component.

If a commit contains https://evil.example/github.com/laravel/framework, the slash before github.com satisfies this prefix condition. The commit then appears on /github/laravel/framework even though its link points to another host. Require github.com to be the URL host, and add this case to the matching tests.

Review comment at @app/Queries/RepositoryCommitsQuery.php at line 49:
Update the GitHub URL pattern in RepositoryCommitsQuery to match github.com only
as the URL host, not when it appears in a path on another host. Add a matching
test for a commit URL such as https://evil.example/github.com/laravel/framework
and verify it is excluded.

By default, Laravel automatically assigns an index name based on the table name, the name of the indexed column, and the index type.
When using PostgreSQL or SQL Server, you may chain the `online` method onto an index definition to create the index without locking the table, allowing your application to continue reading and writing data during index creation:

    $table->string('email')->unique()->online();

When using PostgreSQL, this adds the `CONCURRENTLY` option to the index creation statement. When using SQL Server, this adds the `WITH (online = on)` option.

### Renaming Indexes

To rename an index, you may use the `renameIndex` method provided by the schema builder blueprint. This method accepts the current index name as its first argument and the desired name as its second argument:

    $table->renameIndex('from', 'to')

### Dropping Indexes

To drop an index, you must specify the index's name. By default, Laravel automatically assigns an index name based on the table name, the name of the indexed column, and the index type. Here are some examples:

Command  | Description
--- | ---
`$table->dropPrimary('users_id_primary');` | Drop a primary key from the "users" table.

Build the index concurrently to avoid blocking commit writes.

Laravel 13.38.0 emits a plain CREATE INDEX for this definition. The migration also runs inside a transaction by default. Use online() and disable the migration transaction so PostgreSQL can use CREATE INDEX CONCURRENTLY.

The stress seeder documents about one million commits and several gigabytes of data, so write blocking is a plausible deployment risk. The PR already discloses this limitation, and production size and build duration are not established. Downgrade this from major to minor.

Review comment at
@database/migrations/2026_10_26_120000_add_trigram_index_to_body_of_commits_table.php
at line 19:
Update the migration’s commits table index definition to use online index
creation, and disable the migration’s transaction so PostgreSQL can build the
GIN trigram index concurrently. Keep the existing index name and definition
unchanged.
