Adds tg.users.getCreationHistory, the data source for the Telegram users chart on the redesigned admin Overview (PoliNetworkOrg/admin#90).

What

  • New query tg.users.getCreationHistory in src/routers/tg/users.ts.
  • Aggregates tg.users.created_at by Europe/Rome calendar day: SELECT to_char(created_at AT TIME ZONE 'Europe/Rome', 'YYYY-MM-DD') AS date, count(*) ... GROUP BY 1 ORDER BY 1.
  • Output: { days: { date: string; count: number }[]; error: null } | { error: "INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR" }, oldest day first; days without new users are omitted. No user data leaves the database (no ids, names or usernames), and nothing is decrypted.
  • Policy: policy(dashboard("tg:users:read"), { tokenOnly: true }): the same permission as tg.users.getAll, and token-only like every procedure added for the IdP (no legacy anonymous path).
  • No input: the dashboard buckets the days (per day for 3 months, per week for a year, per month for all time) and accumulates them client side. One row per day keeps the payload small (a few thousand rows at most) while letting every range be computed from one cached response.
  • Errors are logged and returned as INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR, like the other procedures in this router.

Why

tg.users.getAll returns decrypted users without created_at, and the admin BFF only reaches the database through this API, so the dashboard had no way to show growth over time. Loading every user to derive it would also be heavier than this aggregate.

Dependency

The admin chart (PoliNetworkOrg/admin#90) depends on this PR being merged, released as @polinetwork/backend (semantic-release will publish a minor version from the feat commit) and deployed. Until then the admin Overview shows the Telegram users total without the chart. The admin also falls back that way on UNAUTHORIZED, which its development agent mode gets because it calls the backend anonymously.

Tests

  • tests/tg-users-creation-history.test.ts: the token-only tg:users:read policy, only date and count selected, grouping and ordering by the day expression, the Europe/Rome bucketing (to_char(… AT TIME ZONE 'Europe/Rome', 'YYYY-MM-DD')), and the failure path.
  • tests/idp-router.test.ts: asserts the procedure's policy and tokenOnly: true.

Verification

  • bun run typecheck: passes. bun run biome ci .: passes.
  • bun run test: 14 of 15 files pass; tests/idp-router.test.ts cannot load in this sandbox (getaddrinfo ENOTFOUND api.nodemailer.com, from createTestAccount() at import of src/emails/mailer.tsx), the same as on main here. Run with a local-only Vitest config that aliases nodemailer to a stub (not committed), all 15 files and 87 tests pass, including the new idp-router assertion. CI has network access and runs it normally.

Add `tg.users.getCreationHistory`, a read-only aggregate over `created_at`
in `tg.users`: one `{ date, count }` row per Europe/Rome calendar day with
new users, oldest first. Only dates and counts leave the database, so the
admin dashboard can chart user growth without loading or decrypting every
user. It uses the same `tg:users:read` dashboard policy as `getAll`.

Review in Change Stack →

Walkthrough

Adds getCreationHistory to the Telegram users router. It returns user counts grouped by creation date in the Europe/Rome time zone, ordered from oldest to newest. Tests cover policy registration, date grouping, returned rows, and database failure handling.

Changes

User Creation History

Layer / File(s) Summary
Creation history query
src/routers/tg/users.ts, tests/tg-users-creation-history.test.ts, tests/idp-router.test.ts
The router adds a token-only dashboard query that returns date/count rows grouped by Rome-time-zone creation day. It logs database errors and returns INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR. Tests check access policy, date grouping, ordered results, and error handling.

Priority: ➖ Normal

Change: Feature

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 7f4b9

The current query's timezone conversion matches the stored timestamp type, but its test does not exercise actual date bucketing. A future regression could place user counts on the wrong chart days; adding a database-backed boundary test is a bounded follow-up.

viganogabriele pushed a commit to PoliNetworkOrg/admin that referenced this pull request Oct 12, 2026
The Overview opens with a big search that opens the command palette, then a
hero card: the Telegram users total with its growth over the chosen range,
a TanStack Charts line of users over time (3M per day, 1Y per week, All per
month) and Telegram groups, Open reports and Active grants as links. The
"Needs attention" list is removed. Areas are cards whose whole surface
leads where the service's rail icon does, with 44px section buttons.

The series comes from `getTelegramUserHistory`, a read server function over
the backend's new `tg.users.getCreationHistory` (PoliNetworkOrg/backend#68):
per-day counts from `created_at`, accumulated and bucketed in the browser.
The procedure is newer than the pinned @polinetwork/backend types, so it is
called through a narrow typed view and its output is parsed; until the
backend ships it, the hero shows the total without the chart.

The command palette can now search: "Find “…” in Telegram › Groups" opens
any section that reads `?q=` with that query.

`tg.users.getCreationHistory` is new, so like every procedure added for the
IdP it refuses the legacy anonymous path (`tokenOnly`). The router test
asserts its policy, and the procedure test asserts that days are bucketed
by the Europe/Rome calendar day.

Execute the Rome bucketing expression with boundary timestamps.

history.handler() uses a mocked query chain. state.orderBy always returns fixed rows, so no createdAt value reaches creationDay. The Europe/Rome test only checks the generated SQL text. An incorrect interpolated column or incorrect runtime timezone semantics can therefore pass while returning incorrect calendar days. Add a database-backed test with timestamps around Rome midnight and DST transitions, and assert the returned dates and counts.

* feat(shell): monochrome rail, 240px panel and mobile top bar with bottom nav

The rail drops the branded service logos for monochrome lucide icons, the
PoliNetwork logo becomes the link to Overview (with an active ring), and
Reports gets an accent dot while reports are open. The panel grows to 240px
with 38px items and an accent indicator.

Below 760px the panel sheet is replaced by a top bar (logo, service title,
search, theme, account), the service's sections as scrolling pills and a
bottom nav with the five services.

Page headers now scroll with the page: PageBar renders the h1 with one line
of context and the actions, then the toolbar row; deep pages show a back
button and a breadcrumb.

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* feat(tables): 52px rows, monochrome row actions and stacked cards on mobile

DataTable rows grow to 52px with 14px cells, a visible Actions header and
a 12px radius. Below 760px every row becomes a stacked card: the first
column on its own line, the others inline as meta, the actions below.
Column hiding by container width now applies from the shell breakpoint only.

Row actions are monochrome ghost icons that tint only on hover (danger,
success, warning); a visible group's eye is accent. The tinted appearance
is replaced by a bordered "boxed" one, and "Not shared" is an amber badge.
Pagination drops the first/last buttons and collapses to "‹ 1 of 34 ›"
on narrow tables; segmented controls and the search field are 40px with a
"/" hint.

* feat(overview): hero with Telegram users chart and areas grid

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* feat(telegram): page headers, user avatars and side-by-side user detail

Users, Groups and Grants get their page header context ("680 groups
managed by the bot", the people the bot has seen, what grants are for).
Users show initials avatars and "No username", accept `?q=` so the command
palette can search them, and the Grants status column follows the user.
The labels filter is a 40px toolbar button.

The user detail shows a 64px avatar, a "Grant active" badge and a copyable
Telegram ID, then recent messages and grants side by side (grants as cards,
scheduled ones dashed) with the audit log full width below.

Every section's loading state now renders its page header, so the title
does not jump in when the data arrives.

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* feat(whatsapp): service header and stacked group cards

WhatsApp has a single section and no panel, so its page header shows the
service icon next to "WhatsApp groups" and the count of groups registered
by hand. On mobile the labels take their own line in the group cards.

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* feat(azure): boxed membership buttons and member avatars

Microsoft 365 groups show "n groups · n memberships" in the header, 60px
rows with the mail in DM Mono, the member count after the avatars and
boxed add/remove member buttons (remove tints danger on hover). Members
show initials avatars, mono emails, a 40px "Members only" toggle and the
member and license totals in the header; the toolbar count appears only
while a search or the toggle narrows the list.

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* feat(web): page context, guide and FAQ layouts, category root cards

Every Web section gets its header context. Shared pieces follow the new
cards: inline-edit cards edit with an accent border and ring, labelled
fields and "Cancel / Save" text buttons with their shortcuts, and bilingual
text shows a small IT/EN tag in view and a labelled field-like box in edit.

- Projects: 48px logo, title and short link in the card header, the IT/EN
  descriptions aligned under the title.
- Freshman guide: a "Latest edition" card with its download above the
"All editions" table and its search.
- FAQs: the category select becomes a list beside the questions (pills
below 1100px) with "Add category"; the category header holds its edit and
delete actions and the question search.
- Categories: each root is a card that opens it, with its first
sub-categories as chips carrying their group counts.
- Section headings are 17px with a DM Mono count.

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* feat(reports): labelled Dismiss and Resolve buttons and page context

Open and Closed reports are titled as such, with one line on what they hold.
Open rows act through labelled buttons: a ghost "Dismiss" and an outline
"Resolve", instead of two unlabelled icons.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* feat(account): group permissions by service

Permissions are listed per area (Dashboard, Telegram, WhatsApp, group
labels, Microsoft 365, Web) with the service icon and DM Mono chips. The
mobile top bar rings the avatar while the Account page is open.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* feat(dialogs): larger titles, icon tiles and bottom sheets on mobile

Dialog titles are 18px with 14px descriptions and a 14px panel radius.
Confirmations show an icon tile before the title (danger-tinted for
destructive ones: a warning sign by default, Leave group and End grant use
their own icons) and are 460px wide. Footers keep Cancel and the primary
side by side at every width. Below 760px every dialog is a bottom sheet:
full width, rounded top, sliding up.

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* docs(design): describe the redesigned shell, pages and components

Update the design rules to the redesign: page headers with an h1 and a
context line, the monochrome rail with the logo as the way to Overview,
the 240px panel, the mobile top bar, section pills and bottom nav, 52px
tables that stack into cards, monochrome row actions, the Overview hero
and chart, the record and FAQ layouts, dialogs with icon tiles and bottom
sheets, and the inline-edit footer with text buttons.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* refactor(styles): drop the unused group-action color tokens

Row actions are monochrome now, so nothing reads `--pn-action-*`.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* fix(telegram): follow a new ?q= while the users page is open

The command palette's "Find … in Telegram › Users" changes ?q= without remounting the page; the search now follows it and returns to page 1, as the group lists do.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* perf(overview): load the users history alongside the counts

The history request starts before the counts are awaited, so both run in parallel; it still streams in and falls back on failure.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* fix(overview): measure growth over exactly the labelled range

"+N in 12 months" and "in 3 months" now count the users created after the same day 12 or 3 months earlier through today, instead of up to a week (or a day) more. Month arithmetic clamps to the target month's last day. Axis and tooltip labels come from fixed month names ("Sep", not ICU's "Sept"), and month ticks name the year on January when the range spans two years. The tests no longer depend on the ICU version.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* fix(overview): treat an unauthenticated history call as unavailable

tg.users.getCreationHistory is token-only, and agent mode calls the backend anonymously; UNAUTHORIZED now falls back to the total without the chart, like a backend that predates the procedure (NOT_FOUND).

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* fix(shell): align the panel breakpoint and keep one sections landmark

The slide offset reads (width < 1100px), the same breakpoint as the panel's max-[1100px] width, so they agree at exactly 1100px. The panel's aside no longer repeats the nav's "{Service} sections" name, and PendingReportsCount is module-private.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* fix(faqs): one Add category action and a 40px disabled Add FAQ

With no categories, writers get "Add category" only at the end of the category list, not again in the empty state. The disabled "Add FAQ" sits inside its hint's wrapper, so it sets the header's 40px height itself.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* fix(tables): name each value's column in stacked mobile cards

Below 760px the header row is hidden, so every value after the first carries its column name as visually hidden text (shown only in the stacked layout). The table keeps its native semantics; no ARIA table roles are added.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* fix(overview): distinct y-axis labels and a first 1Y week cut at the range start

The y axis used compact labels with one decimal, so ticks under 100 apart repeated ("1.3k, 1.3k"). growthAxis now picks about four ticks every 1, 2, 2.5 or 5 × 10ⁿ users and an explicit domain; below 100k the labels are plain numbers ("13,325"), above they are compact with as many decimals as the step needs, so adjacent ticks always differ.

In 1Y the first weekly bucket was measured from a week before its end, so it could count users created before the range start that the "+N in 12 months" figure excludes. Every range now measures its first bucket from the range start, the first 1Y label is clamped to it, and the buckets add up to the range's growth (tested).

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* fix(styles): load DM Sans from a valid Google Fonts URL

The family spec declared `ital` without values, so Google Fonts answered 400 and every page fell back to the system font. The request now asks for the optical-size and weight axes only (200).

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* fix(styles): light canvas, panel and sunken tokens as in the design

Light pages sit on #f6f7f9 with white cards and bars, the panel and section pills on #fbfcfd, and wells (message quotes, grant cards, bilingual edit boxes) on a new --pn-sunken (#f9fafc light, #0d141a dark). A new --pn-panel separates the panel from the rail in both themes. Hero stat hover is visible in light, and a page header without context or actions no longer reserves 56px, so Overview and Account start at the top.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* fix(telegram): fit the Tag column in the groups table at 1440px

Title, tag and labels claimed more width than the table has at 1440px, so the Tag column hid. Their budgets now match the design's columns (Group, Telegram ID, Tag, Labels, Actions all shown).

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* fix(labels): neutral label chips with a colored dot

Attribute and publication chips printed their text in the raw label color, which fails AA on white (2.4–3.2:1). Every label chip is now the neutral 24px chip with the label color as a dot, as in the design, so the text keeps the chip's contrast in both themes.

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* fix(azure): member cards with id, avatar and name, and a No license chip

On phones a member card reads "#id · avatar name", then the mono email, then the licence chips, as in the design. Members without a licence show an amber "No license" chip instead of a dash (desktop too). DataTable columns can now be `inline` (a primary value sharing a line) and the first column can take another card role.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* fix(telegram): grant cards with status, reason, grantor and window

On phones a grant card reads user and status badge (top right), the reason as the main line, "By <grantor>", the source and the whole window "from → until" in one cell, without the separate Expires value wrapping onto its own line. Adds `end` and `text` card roles to DataTable.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_016Wcgyqa8nfsrm4SSd283AF

* fix(telegram): readable audit log and record actions on phones

Audit rows name the actor as a person reads it (the admin's name, "Moderation bot" for automatic actions, "Dashboard admin" for an IdP subject, which stays in the tooltip) and show type and client as capitalised chips. On phones an audit card reads actor, type and date, then the reason, then the group. Record actions on deep pages keep their natural width on phones instead of splitting the row 50/50, and message rows keep their chat id.

* fix(groups): color action icons and use blue hover states

* fix(tables): use brand blue for row hover

* fix(shell): keep wide-screen content stationary when opening panels

* fix(ui): polish message feed, overflow labels and scrollbars

* fix(ui): unify desktop layout, tooltips and blue hover states

Use one content width and one rail active treatment across the dashboard. Replace native title tooltips with themed hints and align label overlays below their triggers. Keep action hover borders blue and opt out of Dark Reader recoloring because the app already owns its light and dark palettes.

* fix(ui): unify hovers on a soft blue and polish desktop details

Mixing near-gray colors in oklch gives them a missing hue that Chrome renders as red, which caused the red hovers. Every color mix now uses oklab (enforced by a test), and every hover uses one faint brand tint (--pn-hover) and a half-strength hover border instead of the solid accent.

Projects drag from anywhere on the card. Chip lists show only chips that fit, hints that repeat visible text open only when it is truncated, page-header menus match the 40px actions, the theme icon is right before hydration, and FAQ rows, card headers and table action headers line up.
