Summary

  • keep the existing retry from a configured account name to inferred UPN and down-level forms after 401 Unauthorized
  • remove the unsupported statement that ConfigMgr 2603 universally rejects bare account names or requires UPN format
  • describe the behavior as environment-specific compatibility handling and retain UPN as the least ambiguous recommendation

Evidence

Microsoft's published ConfigMgr 2603 and AdminService guidance does not establish a universal UPN-only username requirement. Authentication format, account policy, endpoint configuration, and environment-specific behavior must be validated together.

Validation

  • Windows PowerShell 5.1 regression suite passed
  • parser and changed-script PSScriptAnalyzer error gate passed
  • git diff --check passed

Retain the 401 fallback behavior while removing an unsupported claim that ConfigMgr 2603 universally requires UPN-form usernames.
