Summary

  • Generate compact, job-scoped leaderboard-result.json candidates from Harbor artifacts after completed, partial, failed, paused, or stopped runs.
  • Refresh the same job's candidate on resume, before artifact upload; keep separate jobs as separate results.
  • Compute benchmark.id from the resolved dataset source/revision and sorted, deduplicated canonical task names in Harbor's root lock.json. Equivalent selections share an ID regardless of filter spelling, model, harness, or trial suffixes.
  • Persist GitHub repository/ref/commit/subdirectory provenance through preparation, export, download, and resume.
  • Share one atomic exporter between automatic snapshots and manual artifact conversion. Preserve recorded metrics, unknown values, optional GPU allocation, and explicit cost-estimate markers.
  • Use generic dataset labels without requested-ref suffixes; allow explicit metadata for display names and other run-specific facts. A usable lock and known source are required to produce a new candidate.

Publication remains a manual review/submission step.

Validation

  • 411 pytest tests and 31 subtests passed; targeted Ruff and diff checks passed.
  • Live GitHub identity checks across 26 commits and live Harbor Hub SWE-bench Verified resolution (500 tasks).
  • Real Harbor startup/lock creation and native resume checks using GitHub/Hub selections.
  • Isolated OpenShift oracle-task execution with real RustFS upload/download, repeated pause/resume, staging retention/cleanup, and matching manual export. Queue/API dispatch and transfer-failure paths were covered by regression tests; this was not a full SWE-bench model run.

Companion consumer PR: https://github.com/redhat-et/coding-agent-leaderboard/pull/37

The branch has been consolidated into one commit for review.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Jobs started through the queue or CLI can export leaderboard results when Harbor results are available, including for interrupted, failed, or partial runs. Exports require usable task names and a known dataset source; missing Harbor results prevent export.
    • Optional metadata overrides are supported. Results include dataset identity and provenance, run status, available metrics, and timing details. Resumed jobs refresh the same result.
    • Metrics include per-task averages and optional GPU cost estimates, and can be calculated for legacy and current results. Missing or incomplete data is reported as unavailable.
  • Documentation

    • Added guidance for automatic and manual exports, metadata overrides, and interpreting results.

The change adds leaderboard metadata collection and result snapshots for local, queued, resumed, and manually exported jobs. It adds metric calculations for legacy and latest Harbor result formats, optional leaderboard output, and GPU cost estimates.

Changes: Leaderboard results and metrics

Layer / File(s) Summary
Metadata and benchmark identity
src/coding_agent_bench/api.py, src/coding_agent_bench/cli.py, src/coding_agent_bench/github_datasets.py, src/coding_agent_bench/leaderboard_results.py, src/coding_agent_bench/nebius_utils.py, tests/test_github_datasets.py, tests/test_passthrough_flags.py
The API and CLI accept optional metadata overrides and validate their structure. GitHub dataset preparation records provenance, which contributes to dataset identity. Nebius resource metadata includes GPU type and count.
Snapshot construction and metric accounting
src/coding_agent_bench/leaderboard_results.py, tests/test_calculate_metrics.py
The result builder resolves task names and dataset identity, then derives metrics, timing, and run status from Harbor artifacts. Tests cover identity, accounting, timing, partial runs, and atomic updates.
Automatic export in job workflows
src/coding_agent_bench/cli.py, src/coding_agent_bench/api.py, src/coding_agent_bench/job.py, tests/test_calculate_metrics.py, tests/test_result_upload.py, README.md
The local CLI, queued jobs, and resume flow invoke export after Harbor exits. Tests check statuses and refreshed uploads. The README describes metadata capture and automatic exports.
Manual metrics and export
src/coding_agent_bench/metrics.py, scripts/calculate_metrics.py, scripts/templates/report_template.md, tests/test_calculate_metrics.py, README.md
The metrics CLI calculates legacy and latest job metrics and can write leaderboard results with optional GPU cost estimates. The script delegates to the package implementation, and the former report template is removed. The README documents manual export.

Explanation

The title 'feat: generate job-scoped Harbor leaderboard candidates' matches the main change: the PR adds leaderboard_results.py, which builds per-job leaderboard-result.json snapshots from Harbor artifacts after runs and resumes. The title is concise and specific, and it follows conventional commit style.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description is clearly related to the changeset. It explains the automatic per-job leaderboard-result.json generation, resume refresh, benchmark ID computation from lock.json, GitHub provenance persistence, the shared atomic exporter, and manual publication. It also lists validation performed.

Dataset names are generic:

- Harbor Hub: the submitted selector, for example `owner/dataset@v2`.
- GitHub: `owner/repository/subdirectory@ref`. The repository URL, selected
directory, requested ref, and resolved commit SHA are kept separately in
`benchmark.dataset_source`. If no ref was requested, the name uses the commit.

Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Fix the dataset-name documentation. It contradicts the code and the later README text.

Lines 195-200 say the Hub name is the submitted selector, such as owner/dataset@v2. They also say the GitHub name is owner/repository/subdirectory@ref, or the commit when no ref was requested.

The code and tests show different behavior:

  • job_metadata splits the selector at @. benchmark.name is only the repo part, and the ref goes to benchmark.version.
  • For GitHub sources, benchmark.name is repo/subdirectory with no ref or commit suffix. test_default_benchmark_labels_exclude_refs_but_preserve_provenance asserts "org/bench/tasks".
  • Line 241 of the same README says benchmark.name has no @latest, tag, or commit suffix.

Readers who rely on this section will expect a suffix that never appears. Update the section to match the implementation.
