@suryasidd, could you take a look? This brings the OpenVINO harness jobs back. They had been failing since the 2026.1.0 nightly from #17730 was deleted from OpenVINO's storage. The PR now pins the 2026.1.0 release, which contains that nightly. One thing to check: with the release, |

@suryasidd, @daniil-lyakhov, a correction to my question above. The three models are not a nightly vs. release difference. Since September these jobs run on AMD EPYC runners with bfloat16, and there OpenVINO runs the float32 models in bfloat16 by default. On a bfloat16 CPU, 2026.0.0 and 2026.1.0 give identical results, and with the f32 precision hint all three models pass. I've updated the description, so please ignore that question. |

@digantdesai, could you review this when you get a chance? The OpenVINO test-harness jobs have failed at setup since September 9, because the nightly they downloaded was deleted. This points them at the 2026.1.0 release and checks each download against a pinned SHA-256. It is one script. Both harness jobs now reach the tests again. The two red jobs in CI fail the same way on main: the Samsung yolo26 compile error (#23481) and the CoreML job that hangs in pip and hits the time limit. Three models land just outside the test tolerance because of bfloat16 on the new runners, not because of this change. The description explains that. |

The OpenVINO test-harness jobs have failed every night since mid-September. The setup script downloads a pinned OpenVINO nightly, and OpenVINO has since deleted it. The storage server answers the missing file with an HTML page and HTTP 200, so curl --fail does not catch it and the job dies in tar with "gzip: stdin: not in gzip format". Point the --nightly path at the official 2026.1.0 release, which contains all of the old nightly's commits and is not deleted. Also check each download against the .sha256 file OpenVINO publishes next to it, so a missing or broken download fails right away instead of in tar.
…hold Check each OpenVINO download against a SHA-256 pinned next to its build, instead of a .sha256 file fetched from the same server. When an archive is missing, the server returns the same HTML page for both files, so the old check compared nothing and failed with a confusing message. A pinned hash fails a missing or replaced archive with "computed checksum did NOT match", keeps CI on the exact archive it was tested with, and drops the second download. Also set only the version, build and hash for each choice, and build the URL and folder name once. The variables no longer say nightly, since the harness pin is a release.
…k tests The OpenVINO harness and the per-PR OpenVINO job installed two different OpenVINO releases, and the harness got its release through a flag named --nightly. Both jobs now install the latest release, 2026.4.1, checked against its pinned SHA-256. The harness no longer passes --nightly. --nightly now really installs a nightly. It takes the newest one listed in the latest.txt file that OpenVINO publishes, and checks it against the .sha256 file next to it, because a build that changes every day cannot be pinned. It is only meant for quick tests, so no CI job uses it, and the script has no nightly pin left to go stale.
…anges The OpenVINO harness ran on a pull request only when test-backend-openvino.yml or _test_backend.yml changed. A change to setup-openvino.sh, such as the next OpenVINO version bump, or any change to test_backend.sh, which calls it, got no harness run before merge unless someone added the ciflow/nightly label. Add both scripts to the pull_request paths, so such pull requests show the harness build and test results.

…xtra The YOLO26 test script and its README installed an OpenVINO nightly that OpenVINO has deleted, so the install fails. Install the 2026.4.1 release instead, the same one the CI setup script uses. The openvino pip extra, the docs and the runtime error message capped OpenVINO below 2026.0.0, while CI runs the backend on 2026.4.1. Allow 2025.1.0 up to, but not including, 2027.0.0. The extra still skips Linux aarch64 with Python 3.14. OpenVINO now publishes builds there, but they need glibc 2.35, while the ExecuTorch wheel needs only 2.28, so dropping the bound would make the extra fail to install on older systems. The comment and the docs now give that reason.

What is wrong today
The OpenVINO test-harness jobs have failed at setup on every run since September 9, on main and
release/1.5. The setup script downloads a pinned nightly that OpenVINO has since deleted. The server answers the missing file with an HTML page and HTTP 200, socurl --faildoes not catch it, and the job dies intar:The YOLO26 test script and its README pin a deleted nightly wheel too. The
openvinopip extra, the docs and the runtime error message still cap OpenVINO below 2026.0.0, although CI runs the backend on 2026 releases. What this change does
test-openvino-linuxused 2026.0.tar.--nightlystays for quick tests only. It installs the newest nightly from OpenVINO'slatest.txt, checked against its published.sha256. No CI job passes it.setup-openvino.shortest_backend.shalso run the harness.openvino>=2025.1.0,<2027.0.0. The extra still skips Python 3.15 (no build) and Linux aarch64 with Python 3.14 (builds need glibc 2.35, the ExecuTorch wheel 2.28).Not in this change:
nncfstays at 3.1.0, andrelease/1.5still has the deleted pin.resnet50,inception_v3andwide_resnet50_2fail the harness tolerance, not from this change: on bfloat16 CPUs OpenVINO runs float32 models in bfloat16 unless given the f32 hint. On the same inputs, 2026.0.0, 2026.1.0 and 2026.4.1 give identical results. What was tested
On Linux x86_64 (AMD EPYC, bfloat16):
--nightlypaths download, pass the check and extract; the deleted nightly URL and a swapped archive stop at the checksum.test-openvino-linuxgives the same results with 2026.0.0 and 2026.4.1.Also:
