Problem

When an image was added to the composer, its thumbnail briefly showed placeholder or alt text while the preview loaded. On slower connections, this could make the preview appear to disappear.

Change

Show a local image preview while the compressed thumbnail is prepared. Decode the replacement before swapping it in, so the preview stays visible during the transition.
