fix(mobile): group settled PR threads in the continue menu - #27941
On mobile, a pull request's “Continue thread” chooser labels settled threads as “Continue thread” and mixes them into the main list. A single settled linked thread also bypasses the chooser entirely, so completed work can be selected implicitly.
Reproduce by linking a thread to a PR, settling it, then opening the PR's Continue thread action.
Change
Keep unsettled threads directly accessible and put settled threads in a native “Settled threads” submenu. A lone settled or archived thread now opens the chooser rather than being selected implicitly. Starting a new thread and explicitly opening historical threads remain available.
The linked-thread response gains an optional settlement flag so mobile can distinguish the existing choices while retaining compatibility with older servers. The same grouping is used by the toolbar and PR action rows. Android helper menus flatten and label settled choices because their native menu supports only one submenu level.
Scope and approval
Submitted under the focused obvious-bug exception in CONTRIBUTING.md: the existing continuation chooser ignores a thread's settled state and presents completed work as an ordinary continuation. This change addresses that one selection/labeling defect and preserves access to the existing linked threads. No prior maintainer approval is claimed.
Verification
Extended the existing linked-thread service test to cover active, settled, and archived threads while preserving PR matching, ordering, and deleted/dismissed-link exclusions.
Extended the existing mobile selection test to cover explicit settled-thread selection, avoiding implicit selection of historical threads, grouping, new-thread access, and archived helper restrictions. The focused regression tests failed before the fix and pass after it.
vp test run apps/server/src/pullRequest/linkedThreads.test.ts apps/mobile/src/features/pull-requests/pullRequestAgentTasks.test.ts: 4 tests passed.
Built and installed the native dev client on an iPhone 18 Pro simulator running iOS 27.2. Paired it with an isolated backend seeded from a read-only copy of real T3 data and authenticated GitHub access. Manually verified the settled-thread menu against a real PR; the author confirmed it works. No real agent turn, review submission, or push was needed for this check.
Android was not runtime-tested. Device automation timed out, so the iOS interaction was checked manually.
Before is the original iOS report; after is the verified simulator result. Both images are cropped to the menus.
Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — Settled threads are grouped in mobile continuation menus, and a sole settled or archived thread now requires explicit selection instead of automatic continuation. This changes the default interaction for existing users and needs confirmation of the intended product behavior.

Walkthrough
Linked pull request threads now include settlement status. Mobile actions use that status to build thread-selection menus. The controls and row use chooseThread to configure menu behavior.

Summary
Return settled status for linked threads packages/contracts/src/pullRequest.ts, apps/server/src/pullRequest/linkedThreads.ts, apps/server/src/pullRequest/linkedThreads.test.ts
The linked-thread result adds an optional settled boolean. The server derives this value from settledAt or settledOverride. Tests cover active, settled, and archived threads.
The action helper groups settled threads and labels actions by status. Archived-thread actions are disabled except for ask. The hook exposes chooseThread and applies Android-specific submenu formatting. Tests cover action lists and selection behavior.

Use the repository settlement predicate for linked threads.
listLinkedPullRequestThreads marks a thread settled only when settledOverride is "settled". A thread with a non-null settledAt is therefore returned as settled: false. Mobile can then implicitly select that unarchived historical thread as an active continuation.

- (json_extract(t.payload_json, '$.settledOverride') IS 'settled') AS settled,+ (json_extract(t.payload_json, '$.settledAt') IS NOT NULL+ OR json_extract(t.payload_json, '$.settledOverride') IS 'settled') AS settled,

Merged current main without conflicts and addressed the settlement review finding in 3cd48f0126: linked threads now report settlement when settledAt is present or settledOverride is settled. Automatically settled threads therefore use the existing historical-thread chooser instead of implicit continuation.
Extended the existing service case with an automatically settled thread. It failed before the query fix (settled: false) and passed after it. Blacksmith verification passed: four focused tests and vp run check:changed against main, including formatting, lint, knip, affected typechecks, 10 selected tests, and nine React compiler checks. A direct service runtime check returned active=false, automatic=true, manual=true. Two independent read-only reviews found no remaining code findings.
No UI code was changed in this fixup. Native iOS/Android interaction was not reverified on this Linux VM; no Android device is attached. Existing PR evidence remains the contributor's verification. Macroscope's product-behavior approval still needs a human decision.
Verified the server portion at 3cd48f012615dd374c29a8b70669019edcc072e4 on Linux. Started github/main (ce9e016406) in a separate worktree, then stopped it before starting the exact PR head. Both used isolated state and vp i.
Used repository Playwright with /usr/bin/google-chrome to add the real repository as a project, create threads, select Codex gpt-6.1-sol, send real provider turns, and settle/un-settle/archive through the web client. Linked this PR through the running server's orchestration.dispatchCommand WebSocket API. No fixtures, mocks, or demo provider were used.
Main returned the settled thread from pullRequests.linkedThreads without settlement metadata. The PR returned settled: true for the same persisted thread.
Un-settle returned settled: false; continuing the thread completed another real Codex turn.
Archive preserved the link and returned an archive timestamp; unarchive cleared it.
Unlink returned an empty linked-thread list; relink restored it.
A second web-created thread completed a real Codex turn. The live thread.auto-settle command changed its linked-thread result from settled: false to true alongside the manually settled thread.
Blacksmith passed all four focused tests and vp run check:changed 955e2bfbb5c092c54ad795c8d379fec99702a6b5: formatting, lint, knip, GraphQL checks, affected typechecks, 10 selected tests, and nine selected React compiler checks. The initial check lacked merge-base history; fetching the PR history resolved it. No code changes were needed.
These screenshots show the matching web-created thread and real provider response on main and the PR. They establish the data used for the server comparison; they do not demonstrate the native mobile menu.
The recording shows the neighboring web settle/un-settle interaction after a real continuation turn. Uploaded playback and seeking were checked in T3's browser.
Not verified
The primary native iOS/Android chooser behavior remains unverified here: the device tool returned "Agent device access is turned off for this environment", and adb devices listed no devices. This includes the toolbar and action-row menus, Android flattening, lone historical-thread selection, and starting a new thread from those menus. The server checks above do not establish those interactions. Native Electron shells and remote/relay connections were not exercised. The settledAt-only compatibility case passed the existing service test; the live auto-settle command also writes a settlement override.
