Latest main integration

At 969b86d43b04b3f9ec4e70f208d2cabae8f8bdbf, merged main 7195b699547b538e49f758e314dde5c8c5d907cf without rebasing, preserving Maria's terminal repair, contribution displays and panel-host recovery coverage. The only conflict was the context snapshot: main's scheduler changes add 54 bytes while the inherited plugin tools still add 1,369 bytes. The measured MCP inventory is 48,443 bytes versus main's 47,074; Claude and Codex measurements remain 5,153 and 6,883 bytes. No acceptance label or enforcement change was applied.

vp run check:changed 01f89e900858c629266c31f79da4da137f5092a2 passed: 475 tests across 19 files, 35 affected package typechecks, 10 selected compiler cases, formatting, lint, knip and GraphQL checks. The snapshot test confirms the measurement, not acceptance of context growth. Commit hooks passed. Hosted checks and reviews are pending for this head.

Maria's client verification at 01f89e9 covers contribution names, placements, capability explanations, approval/enabling and a ready plugin view returning its echo result. This integration did not repeat that client pass. Native mobile and Electron remain unverified. Human diagnostic-exception and context-growth approval remain outstanding. Earlier results below describe their recorded revisions.

Integration and validation: GPT-6.1 Sol, Codex harness through T3 Code.

Current main integration

At 596ba55216d83014db67d53341035efeb30322c5, merged main 01bd0a2702 without rewriting contributor history. Resolved the mobile test-list conflict by retaining both suites. Reconciled the context-budget snapshot with measured merged output: Claude 5,153 bytes, Codex 6,883 bytes, MCP tool list 48,389 bytes. The MCP list remains 1,369 bytes above main (47,020); this does not grant acceptance or bypass that gate. The existing budget test passed.

vp run check:changed 0d07635d6621e1ace4712ed48048b3dc2542c8fc passed: 1,578 tests in 71 files, 35 affected package typechecks, 47 selected React Compiler cases and static checks. The two mobile suites named in the conflict passed directly, 13 tests total. Commit hooks passed. No new integrated client pass was performed. Hosted checks and reviews below apply to their recorded earlier revisions and must be reassessed at this head. Human scope/diagnostic approval and current client-verification requirements remain.

Integration and verification: GPT-6.1 Sol through the Codex harness in T3 Code.

Problem

Plugin review and details need to explain what a plugin declares and what its capabilities allow, so users can assess it before enabling it or applying an update. The original contribution-display increment provides that information; the complete main-targeted PR also includes the inherited plugin platform described below.

Current verification

At 0d07635d6621e1ace4712ed48048b3dc2542c8fc, integrated main and propagated the full-access/default agent-mode guard, FIFO-safe opened handles and bounded manifest/asset reads. The saved delta passed focused tests in 13 selected files, 39 affected package typechecks, six compiler files and static checks. The required vp run check:changed d7e2ab376a1694f6930e2b5c2ee674cd183a2484 passed for this follow-up delta. The earlier main-integration verification below describes its recorded revision and scope.

All eight required hosted checks passed at this head. The separate Agent context budget job fails on inherited MCP tool-list growth: 46,109 → 47,478 bytes (+1,369). Maintainer acceptance remains outstanding; no acceptance label or check bypass was applied. Macroscope’s current verdict requires human review of the client integration, lint suppression and expanded raw-RPC exception. Current source retains the iframe suppression where the next line sets its sandbox and the raw-client exception for apps/web/src/state/pluginViewSessions.ts. This verdict adds no new functional finding. The PR remains excluded from the ready-for-review batch pending those decisions and current client verification.

CodeRabbit’s updated summary covers older 2b03c2f. Its terminal-launch concern is already addressed in current source: TerminalSidePanel delegates to the persistent panel, whose resolveTerminalWorktreePath returns an existing launch context’s worktree verbatim, including null, for both the active terminal and per-terminal runtime environment. The original review thread also records the repair as addressed. No additional runtime change or new client proof is claimed for this summary update.

Hosted checks and reviews must be assessed at this head. No integrated web/desktop or native-client verification was performed for this follow-up. Existing approval requirements remain.

Follow-up implementation and verification: GPT-6.1 Sol, Codex harness through T3 Code.

Earlier verification

Integrated main 2359643cffa6ba9ee84d6f2694b935de54a8013e while preserving the existing PR history. At b9330f84c620b69cd400d79f83597cb20b300406, vp run check:changed against that main revision passed 1765 selected tests, compiler checks, affected package types, formatting, lint, unused-code and applicable dependency/schema checks.

Hosted CI and reviews must be assessed at this head. No integrated web/desktop or native-client pass was performed in this update. Earlier verification and media below retain their stated historical revisions; existing proposal and approval requirements remain as described below.

Current authorization follows main: standard pairings include access:write, so plugin installation and settings mutations are available to those sessions. Earlier traces that describe standard pairings as view-only predate that scope change. Mobile continues to expose its deliberately read-only plugin screens.

Compatibility update and verification: GPT-6.1 Sol, Codex harness through T3 Code.

Scope and approval

The actual target is main: 287 files, +41,112 / −830, from comparison merge base 07cb902 to 355f1e8. Observed upstream main was 16918b5, a distinct revision from the merge base. Review the complete base-to-head contribution. The earlier top-commit-only guidance and narrow “no RPC/scope change” statements described an original stack increment and are not the full main-targeted review scope.

The full contribution contains the inherited trusted plugin platform: source inspection and consent, supervised execution/IPC, persistent installations/settings/event cursors, event delivery, actions, tools, views, npm installation/updates, authorization and RPC contracts, provider/Pi contribution-status integration, the shared panel registry/host refactor, and web/desktop/mobile workflows. The final layer adds contribution descriptions and the shared view subscription used by mobile details. Related original layers: #16057 and #15010.

No maintainer approval of the plugin-system direction has been identified in #6714 / #6837. Macroscope's verdict still requires human approval. The correctness concern in that verdict is addressed below, but this recovery does not grant feature approval or merge/close the PR.

Change

Shared client state (packages/client-runtime/state/pluginContributions):

  • describePluginContributions turns the manifest summary the catalogue already sends into groups: actions (title, target, placements, /name for the composer), tools (title or name, side effect, open world, description), settings (label, type, description), and events (what is delivered). Nothing here starts the plugin.
  • For an enabled installation it reads the environment's existing action and view snapshots. If the action snapshot reports plugins left out by the limit and none of this plugin's actions are offered, and the server counts this plugin towards the limit (enabled, declares actions, not quarantined or incompatible), the actions group says it was left out and how to make room. The server drops plugins whole, so this is exact; the client re-applies no limit.
  • Views are listed from the view snapshot, by title, only while the plugin is enabled (the catalogue summary does not carry view declarations); before that the group says views show once enabled.
  • describePluginCapabilities gives a plain meaning to each capability the server implements (actions, tools, views, settings, events). Any other name is shown as declared, without a meaning: the server refuses to load a plugin that declares one, so there is no behaviour to describe.

Web and desktop: the review/details dialog shows each capability with its meaning, and a Contributes field. A downloaded npm update shows what the new version contributes before it is applied.

Server: a downloaded npm update is now summarized by the catalogue's own summary function (summarizePluginManifest, exported from PluginCatalog.ts) instead of the npm install PR's narrower copy, which left out tools, settings and actions. The update's Contributes therefore lists the same things the plugin will list once applied. An update downloaded by a server without this change still has no tools, settings or actions in its summary, so an empty Contributes for a download reads "Nothing listed", not "Nothing declared".

Mobile (read-only, like the rest of its Plugins screens): the plugin screen shows capabilities with meanings and a Contributes section. There is no npm update section on mobile, so nothing lists a downloaded version's contributions there.

The action and view snapshots are subscribed only for an enabled installation on servers that report pluginActions / pluginViews. Like other environment subscriptions, one stays open for up to five idle minutes after the details close, then ends; there is one per environment, not one per plugin. Web reuses the view host's session-bound views hook; mobile gets the environment's views subscription back in shared state (it hosts no views; it reads titles for details).

Docs: docs/user/plugins.md says the review lists contributions and capability meanings without starting the plugin, and that a plugin left out by the action limit says so in its details.

Current recovery

355f1e8 follows 2eb296e: 33 files, +587 / −266 with renames detected.

  • Fix the stale view-state finding: the shared view stream now emits empty views and problems when a session disconnects and before loading a replacement session. Mobile no longer retains the old session's offered titles during configuration or first-snapshot waits. The existing view union and wire protocol are unchanged. Four receipt-based regressions cover direct replacement and disconnect/reconnect while holding configuration or the first snapshot; all four fail on the original stream and pass with the fix, without sleeps.
  • Carry matching inherited repairs from the preceding layer: moved mobile UI imports, DOM/browser test migration away from the removed renderer, compiler-compatible cleanup and memoization, formatting/lint repairs, multiline text/secret settings, interrupted stop/enable sequencing, invalid UTF-8 source-name refusal and reconnect regression coverage. Forty-two inherited index paths (including rename deletions) match the verified preceding-layer repair byte for byte. The contribution-specific mobile screen preserves its new display and changes only three moved UI imports. No new baseline reproduction is claimed here for those carried repairs.

Historical verification at 355f1e8

Checks ran in an exact-parent non-Git archive with this frozen repair, using existing dependencies. No shared checkout was switched or staged; temporary test configuration is excluded from the commit.

  • cd apps/server && vp test run src/plugins/{pluginSource,PluginCatalog,PluginCatalogRpc,PluginNpm,PluginNpmRpc,npmTarball,PluginSettings,PluginSettingsRpc}.test.ts: 8 files, 87 passed, 2 Linux-only raw-filename cases skipped on macOS.
  • cd packages/client-runtime && vp test run src/state/{plugins,pluginPresentation,pluginActions,pluginViews,pluginSettings,pluginNpm,pluginNpmPresentation,pluginContributions}.test.ts: 8 files, 99 passed. The view reset suite was repeated after test-fixture type corrections: 6 passed. This repeat is included in the 99, not added again.
  • Web temporary compiler-enabled jsdom configuration: 17 files, 68 passed, including npm/contribution review, settings/forms, plugin views and migrated panel/status suites. The normal config cannot load locally because @vitest/browser-playwright is missing; a temporary Node configuration ran only 8 targeted React Compiler checks, all passed.
  • Mobile pure logic: 3 files, 15 passed (plugin actions, contribution-status presentation and settings values).
  • Server, web, mobile and client-runtime tsc-rs --noEmit -p <package>/tsconfig.json: passed. Targeted vp lint --report-unused-disable-directives and vp fmt --check: passed, with one inherited array-index-key warning in a panel test fixture.

Total: 269 focused tests plus 8 compiler checks passed; 2 Linux-only skips. These results do not establish native Chromium or real-client behavior. No repo-wide suite was run.

Historical CI at 355f1e8 is blocked by Test Web and its aggregate Check. The web log ends with an unhandled Vitest module-mock factory error and a nested copy of the same wrapper; it does not identify the underlying module or exception. Lint, Build and Typecheck, Test, all eight server shards, Release Smoke, Rust and Native fingerprint diff passed. The installed dependencies lack @vitest/browser-playwright, so native Chromium was not run locally; passing jsdom checks do not establish that the CI browser failure is fixed. Local Node is 24.12.0, below the declared ^24.13.1.

CodeRabbit's live comment retains a low-risk summary covering 2b03c2f, rather than the current head. Its terminal launch-location concern is already addressed: current terminalWorktreePath preserves the launch context's explicit null worktree for both the active terminal and terminal locations, with the local-checkout regression present. CodeRabbit acknowledged that repair. No new code repair follows from the retained summary. No seat/billing change or bot retrigger was attempted. A fresh independent review was skipped under the recovery instruction forbidding delegates. Source review of the frozen repair found no actionable issue; this is not independent approval of the complete platform.

Historical visual evidence

The media below records the original contribution-display layer, associated in the old description with 2e1d06e941471b969c4b74869d554fd2bd6e9fb7 and earlier 73fc7d0873. All scenario descriptions refer to those historical runs. They do not cover the session-reset fix or new multiline settings controls. No browser, server, desktop or device session was launched for this recovery; fresh comparable screenshots/video remain outstanding.

The original iOS proof is after-only at top-of-stack 5ec8b17425: iOS light contributions/capabilities. Android comparison follows below.

Historical captures (isolated dev server on fresh state, web in Chromium, the built desktop app, and one vp run dev --share remote browser; the environment label is a neutral "Proof server"). The scratch plugin declares exactly the five supported capabilities: an action (thread menu and /summarize), a read-only tool, a secret and a boolean setting, events, and a view.

Before After
Review, web light
Review, web dark
Review, desktop light
Review, desktop dark

Before: bare capability badges, no Contributes. After (video): each capability with its meaning, and Contributes lists Actions ("Summarize thread · Runs on a thread · Thread menu, /summarize"), Tools for agents, Views ("Their titles show here while the plugin is enabled"), Settings ("Service key · Secret, kept on the server", "Notifications · On or off") and Events ("Finished runs"). Once enabled, Views lists "Proof overview · Side panel on web and desktop".

Enabled (views listed) Action limit Stopped plugin, no limit notice Standard pairing
  • With eight plugins of 16 actions enabled first, a ninth says "Not offered: this environment's action limit left out 1 plugin with 1 action, including this one. Disable another plugin with actions to make room." A plugin stopped after repeated failures lists its action without that notice.
  • A standard pairing sees the same meanings and Contributes as admin (also over --share).

npm update section (the original capture revision; video): an installed 1.0.0 (settings, events) downloads 1.2.0, which adds a tool, an action and a second setting. Before, the update shows its capabilities with "New: tools, actions" but no Contributes. After, the download's Contributes lists every declaration: Actions "Summarize thread · Runs on a thread · Thread menu, /summarize", Tools for agents "Thread summary · Reads only", Settings "Notifications · On or off" and "Region · Text", and Events "Finished runs".

Before (parent) After
Web, light
Web, dark
Desktop, light
Desktop, dark
Remote (--share)

Android (the original capture revision, an emulator with a standard pairing; mobile has no update section): before, the plugin screen lists capability names only; after, each capability has its meaning and a read-only Contributes section lists Actions, Tools for agents, Views ("Proof overview · Side panel on web and desktop"), Settings and Events, above the view-only notice.

Before (parent) After
Light
Dark

Remote (vp run dev --share, its own pairing link, fresh browser profiles): admin and standard details render the same as local, and at the original capture revision a download staged over the remote origin lists the same Contributes as locally.

These historical runs are not verification of the recovery head. They have not been recaptured, and equivalence to the current UI is not claimed.

Remaining limits

  • Maintainer direction and approval for the full platform are outstanding; this PR remains open and unmerged.
  • Native Chromium, integrated disconnect/reconnect behavior, desktop and mobile visual proof have not been verified at the recovery commit. Linux raw-filename regressions remain skipped locally.
  • Mobile administration and npm update review remain deferred; mobile uses standard scopes. No new authority is introduced by the contribution-display increment, while the full main-targeted platform includes its inherited authorization changes.
  • View declarations are not present in the catalogue's pre-approval summary, so their offered titles show only for enabled plugins. Older server summaries may omit tools/settings/actions from staged updates; an empty download list reads “Nothing listed”.
  • Historical remote proof used --share; relay/T3 Connect tunnel was not exercised. Current-head real-client proof is absent.

Original implementation: Claude Opus 5.5 through Claude Code/T3 Code; historical attribution names GPT-6.1 Sol for review and GPT-6 Astra for captures. Current recovery: GPT-6.1 Sol (high), Codex harness in T3 Code. No fresh independent reviewer participated.

Approvability

Verdict: Needs Human Approval

Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — The change adds plugin contribution and capability presentation alongside plugin runtime integrations. It also introduces a line-level lint suppression and broadens the raw-RPC-access lint exception, both of which require human review.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "feat(web, mobile): show what each plugin adds and what its capabilities allow" matches the main change: plugin review and details on web, desktop, and mobile now list declared contributions and plain-language capability meanings. The title is specific and follows conventional commit style. It is slightly long at 76 characters, but it is clear and related to the changeset.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description follows the template's main sections: Problem, Change, Scope and approval, and Verification. It explains the contribution-display purpose, the scope of the change (web, desktop, mobile, shared client state, server summary function, and docs), and lists the verification performed at several recorded revisions, including test counts, typechecks, and lint/format runs. It also includes before/after screenshots and a video for the UI change, as the template requires. However, the description is very long and mixes historical revisions with the current head. Several required items are unresolved: the Scope and approval section states that no maintainer approval of the plugin-system direction has been identified, and the description says feature approval is still outstanding. The Problem section is brief and does not include reproduction steps. The description also says the template's agent-attribution line is present, which it is. The Verification section says that native Chromium, desktop, and mobile proof were not run at the recovery head, and that the current-head client proof is absent. Under the template, that is a gap, though the author discloses it. The title is not a conventional commit title in the template's form for this description, but this is a judgment about the PR title, not the description body. Because the description is largely complete and transparent, but it has unresolved approval and current-head verification gaps, it is not a clean pass.

Resolution

Clarify the Problem section with expected behavior and a reproduction or environment note. Link the triaged issue or the maintainer approval comment in Scope and approval, or explain why the change qualifies without one. The text says approval is absent, so a maintainer approval of the plugin-system direction is required before this can be assessed as complete. Restate Verification for the current head only: list the focused tests and checks run at that head with observed results, and state which checks (native Chromium, desktop, mobile, and the failing agent context budget gate) were not run. Shorten the historical revision narrative so that the current head's status is easy to find.

merged current main without rebasing and pushed 16c1eead6a27061b39bc98897b62b3165117712c to the existing fork branch without force. resolved the context-budget conflict using the measured 48,907 bytes after main's preview-tool update. no product behavior or labels changed.

blacksmith vp run check:changed FETCH_HEAD against current main passed: format, lint, both knip passes, graphql, 39 package typechecks, 1,863 tests in 136 files, and react compiler checks. the worker needed chromium installed before browser tests could run. github reports no conflicts; there are no unresolved review threads. the terminal finding predates this refactor and remains deferred as the contributor already explained.

ci finished with 32 successful checks and one failure: agent context budget is 47,538 -> 48,907 bytes (+1,369) from the two plugin tools. accepting that growth requires maintainer approval; removing or redesigning those tools would change the contribution's intent. macroscope separately requires human approval. no labels or enforcement were changed. this is waiting, not ready to merge.

live web, electron, and native mobile behavior were not reverified in this run. the earlier takeover's web evidence is retained below; it does not verify this head.
