The overall UX of the compute layer is still messy - logging in particular needs to be cleaned up - but the concrete issue here looks to be resolved. I can fire off several jobs and trust that they'll each run asynchronously.

Here's a brief snapshot from a silly example, giving an M4 a concurrency limit of 8 jobs:

You can see that the apps are slow, which is not surprising. But they're progressing through the apps in order and running 8 at a time
