A sortable list of public machine learning/data science/AI contests, viewable on [mlcontests.com](https://mlcontests.com).

Please submit a pull request for any changes.

Additions or changes to the competitions list can be made by editing [competitions.json](https://github.com/mlcontests/mlcontests.github.io/blob/master/competitions.json).
Contributions for new competitions or updates to existing competitions are welcome; submit a PR which edits [competitions.json](https://github.com/mlcontests/mlcontests.github.io/blob/master/competitions.json).

Please check the [submission criteria](https://mlcontests.com/submit/) first to ensure your competition qualifies.

## Schema

The schema is in [schema.json](https://github.com/mlcontests/mlcontests.github.io/blob/master/schema.json).
Competitions listed here are also considered for inclusion in the annual [State of Machine Learning Competitions](https://mlcontests.com/state-of-machine-learning-competitions/) report.

The required date format in all cases is `D MMM YYYY` - e.g. `5 Jan 2023`.
## Entry format

The `prize` field should use USD values with a comma as the thousands separator, e.g. `$50,000` for fifty-thousand dollars. Prize amounts in other currencies should be converted to USD, with a maximum of two significant figures of precision.
The schema is in [schema.json](https://github.com/mlcontests/mlcontests.github.io/blob/master/schema.json). A typical entry looks like this:
```json
{
"name": "Design Physics Experiments for Gravitational Waves",
"url": "https://www.learn2design2026.com/?ref=mlcontests",
"tags": [
"physics",
"design",
"science",
"optimisation"
],
"launched": "15 Jul 2026",
"registration-deadline": null,
"deadline": "15 Oct 2026",
"added": "29 Jul 2026",
"prize": "$27,000",
"platform": "Independent",
"sponsor": "SPRIN-D",
"conference": "NeurIPS",
"conference-year": 2026,
"additional-urls": []
}
```

This field should only contain unconditional cash prizes. Other prizes -- compute grants, travel grants, hardware, or swag -- should be specified as a string in the `additional_prizes` field.
Some guidelines:
- Use clear task-oriented titles (e.g. 'Predict Stock Returns') as opposed to titles like 'Company X Stock Return Competition'.
- The date format in all cases is `D MMM YYYY` - e.g. `5 Jan 2023`.
- The `prize` field should use USD values with a comma as the thousands separator, e.g. `$50,000` for fifty-thousand dollars. Prize amounts in other currencies should be converted to USD, with a maximum of two significant figures of precision (e.g. €10,000 -> $11,000).
- The prize field should only contain unconditional cash prizes. Other prizes – compute grants, travel grants, hardware, or swag – should be specified as a string in the `additional_prizes` field.

Each competition can have several tags linked to it, and website users can filter by tag.
Some of the valid tags are listed below. See the schema for a full list of tags.
