Summary

This update evolves the plugin from a Build-only framing to a Microsoft Events experience, with Ignite 2026 as the default context while continuing to support Build 2026, Ignite 2025, and Build 2025.

What changed

  • Renamed skill identity to microsoft-events in skill frontmatter.
  • Expanded and clarified skill guidance for event-aware workflows, including personalized session paths and role-oriented scenarios.
  • Added deterministic session-page link behavior in skill output:
    • Ignite links built from catalog facts (langLocale + sessionInstanceId).
    • Build links using https://build.microsoft.com/sessions/{sessionCode}.
  • Updated README to reflect Microsoft Events positioning and broader user scenarios (developer + IT pro).
  • Refreshed README hero image.
  • Version bumps for plugin distribution and skill contract tracking:
    • .github/plugin/plugin.json -> 1.0.8
    • .claude-plugin/plugin.json -> 1.0.8
    • skills/microsoft-build/SKILL.md frontmatter -> 0.7

Outcome

Users get a clearer, event-generic experience with stronger workflow guidance, explicit session linking, and consistent metadata/versioning across plugin manifests.

🟡 Changes recommended

Skill naming compatibility, missing CLI link metadata, and conflicting file-access guidance need resolution before approval.

1. **Ignite sessions**: build the URL from catalog fields:
- `https://ignite.microsoft.com/{langLocale}/sessions/{sessionInstanceId}?source=sessions`
- Use `langLocale` and `sessionInstanceId` from the catalog record.

1. Start by asking how to personalize recommendations:
- **Project-based** (scan an open dev project), or
- **Profile-based** (use known stack/deployment context from the conversation and user-provided details)
2. If project-based is chosen, ask explicit permission before reading project files. Only scan when the user agrees.

🔵 Needs a closer look

The preferred CLI path does not preserve the metadata required by the new Ignite session-link guidance.

I think the repos below are private repos. Do we need to remove this section?

## Scope and Limitations

- **Event-scoped:** Targets Build 2026, with Build 2025 and Ignite 2025 also available. The architecture supports any event that uses the same catalog endpoints.

I noticed the Ignite 2025 and Build 2025 endpoints now return 404. Have they been retired?
