Add Marketing Stats API for GET /api/marketing/stats - #87
Mailtrap now has GET /api/marketing/stats, which returns the aggregated counts and rates shown on Email Marketing → Stats Overview, for campaigns and automations together. It is documented in mailtrap/mailtrap-openapi#62. This adds it to the Java SDK under the signature that spec's Java code sample already uses.
Changes
client.marketingApi().stats().getMarketingStats(filter) returns aggregated Email Marketing stats for a date range, with no account id because the endpoint is token-scoped like email campaigns
MarketingStatsFilter (builder): startDate and endDate (required, YYYY-MM-DD), plus optional sendingDomainIds, sources (MarketingStatsSource.CAMPAIGNS / AUTOMATIONS) and emailServiceProviders, sent as sending_domain_ids[], sources[] and email_service_providers[]
a null filter or a missing/blank date throws IllegalArgumentException before any request is sent
the response keeps the data envelope (MarketingStatsResponse.getData()), as getEmailCampaignStats does, and carries the 13 fields: delivery, bounce, open, click, spam and unsubscription counts and rates, plus sentCount
open, click, spam and unsubscription rates are shares of deliveryCount, unlike the per-campaign stats, which divide every rate by sentCount
MailtrapClient's constructor gains the marketingApi parameter (construct it via MailtrapClientFactory, as documented)
Adds MarketingStatsExample and a README entry under Email Marketing API
How to test
You'll need an API token with at least viewer access to an account that has campaign and automation sends in the last 30 days. Build the client with MailtrapClientFactory.createMailtrapClient(new MailtrapConfig.Builder().token(TOKEN).build()); no account id is set anywhere.
Default — marketingApi().stats().getMarketingStats(MarketingStatsFilter.builder().startDate(<30 days ago>).endDate(<today>).build()) returns getData() with all 13 fields, matching the Email Marketing → Stats Overview tiles for the same range
Campaigns only — add .sources(List.of(MarketingStatsSource.CAMPAIGNS)): the numbers match the Stats Overview with the source set to Campaigns
Automations only — .sources(List.of(MarketingStatsSource.AUTOMATIONS)) matches the Automations source; campaigns plus automations add up to the default numbers
Both sources — .sources(List.of(CAMPAIGNS, AUTOMATIONS)) returns the same numbers as the default
Sending domain and ESP filters — .sendingDomainIds(List.of(<a sending domain id>)) and .emailServiceProviders(List.of("Google")) narrow the numbers to that domain / provider
No data — a range with no marketing sends returns every count and rate as 0
API/SMTP traffic excluded — transactional sends in the range don't change the numbers; sendingApi().stats().getStats(...) still reports them
Invalid input — omitting endDate throws IllegalArgumentException without a request; a sending domain id from another account throws HttpClientException with status 400 and Sending domain does not exist: '<id>'
Permissions — a token with access only to a sending domain or a sandbox throws HttpClientException with status 403
Example — MarketingStatsExample runs with only MAILTRAP_API_KEY set and prints both result sets
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Added access to aggregated email marketing statistics for campaigns and automations, including delivery, bounce, open, click, spam, and unsubscribe metrics.
Statistics can be filtered by required date range, sending domain, source, and email service provider.
Added a Java example demonstrating how to retrieve statistics for the past 30 days.
Added a link to the example in the Email Marketing API examples list.
Decisions:
- Token-scoped like email campaigns: no account id in the accessor chain, so it gets its own client.marketingApi() group for the /api/marketing URL family
- The data envelope is mirrored as MarketingStatsResponse { MarketingStatsData data }, like EmailCampaignStatsResponse
- One extensible MarketingStatsFilter (builder) instead of positional lists; start/end dates are validated before the request, as in StatsImpl
- MarketingStatsSource.toString() returns the wire value, since the query serializer uses toString() to emit sources[]=campaigns
- MarketingStatsData is its own type rather than reusing EmailCampaignStats: the rate denominators differ (delivery_count vs sent_count)

Sends GET requests to /api/marketing/stats with filter query parameters. Rejects null filters and null or blank dates. Tests response mapping, source serialization, and validation.

Adds a marketing API wrapper and wires it into MailtrapClient through the factory.
Runnable example and README entry examples/java/io/mailtrap/examples/marketingstats/MarketingStatsExample.java, README.md
Adds an example that requests statistics for the past 30 days for all sources and then campaigns. Adds a README link to the example.
The API is largely wired correctly, but direct constructor compatibility and malformed-date validation should be addressed or explicitly accepted before release.

This public Java example uses client.marketingApi().stats() and the new filter flow. Confirm that the Mailtrap app's equivalent Java example is still accurate and update it if needed.

Reject non-YYYY-MM-DD dates before sending the request.
MarketingStatsImpl only rejects null or blank dates. Values such as 2026-1-1 and 01/01/2026 pass validation and are serialized into the marketing-stats request, despite MarketingStatsFilter requiring YYYY-MM-DD. Validate both dates at this boundary so callers receive IllegalArgumentException instead of sending an invalid request.
