The change adds a script that converts Fullsend OTLP spans into Langfuse generation observations and exports them. A GitHub Actions workflow runs the export after Fullsend completes or creates a verification trace when manually dispatched.
Changes
Fullsend Langfuse export
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Telemetry parsing and payload construction .fullsend/scripts/langfuse-post-run.py
The script reads JSONL spans, validates telemetry values, and builds generation payloads for eligible agents. It also builds verification payloads from a valid trace ID and assigned cost center.
Export and command-line handling .fullsend/scripts/langfuse-post-run.py
The script validates the configured endpoint, exports payloads, handles dry runs, and reports failures without printing artifact contents or upstream response bodies.
Workflow triggers and export wiring .github/workflows/fullsend-langfuse.yaml
The workflow handles completed Fullsend runs and manual dispatch. It downloads matching artifacts when present and invokes the script with either the artifact directory or verification trace ID.
The Langfuse export silently does nothing useful for installations that configure OTLP with the general endpoint or headers variables. Only setups using the trace-specific variables work. Handle the general variables before merging. The remaining concerns are minor hardening.

Full details: Security And Secret Handling
Explanation
PASSED. The added exporter does not contain hardcoded credentials. It reads the authorization header from the GitHub secret and rejects requests without an Authorization header (.fullsend/scripts/langfuse-post-run.py:193-200). It restricts endpoints and disables redirects (.fullsend/scripts/langfuse-post-run.py:189-205). Errors do not print URLs, headers, artifact content, or response bodies (.fullsend/scripts/langfuse-post-run.py:240-262). The workflow uses read-only permissions and quotes dynamic shell arguments (.github/workflows/fullsend-langfuse.yaml:13-15, 36-43). No Kubernetes Secret or RH Secret resource changed.
Full details: Title check
Explanation
The title "LCORE-5254: Langfuse fullsend setup" names the main change: adding Langfuse export setup for fullsend telemetry. The changeset adds a Langfuse export bridge script and a GitHub Actions workflow that exports traces. The title includes a ticket ID and is short, but it names the primary change. It does not describe the verification mode or the security controls, which is acceptable for a title.
Full details: Performance And Algorithmic Complexity
Explanation
The new exporter has an O(A×S) scan at .fullsend/scripts/langfuse-post-run.py:109-112: for every agent span, any() scans all telemetry spans and converts span attributes. With multiple agents and a telemetry file up to 32 MiB (:81-82), this is a meaningful quadratic algorithm on non-trivial input. The workflow does not add another relevant API issue; its artifact list request uses --paginate and per_page=100 (.github/workflows/fullsend-langfuse.yaml:36).
Resolution
Precompute a set of parent span IDs for generation children in one pass over spans, while converting each span's attributes once if needed. Replace the per-agent any() scan with O(1) set membership. This changes payload construction from O(A×S) to O(A+S), while preserving the existing skip condition.
Full details: Docstring Coverage
Explanation
Docstring coverage is 0.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 9 functions across 1 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)
Resolution
Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

- Around line 109-113: Before the loop over agents, build a set of parent span
IDs for spans whose parsed attributes mark them as generation observations.
Replace the per-agent scan of all spans with a membership check using the
agent’s spanId, preserving the existing skip behavior.
- Line 128: Validate untrusted telemetry fields before type-specific use:
require token_usage to be a dictionary and gen_ai.agent.name to be a string when
present, raising a domain-specific ValueError subclass with safe messages for
invalid types. Update the exception handlers around generation export and
artifact processing to include that message only for this validation error,
while keeping other exception output limited to the exception type.
Review comments at @.github/workflows/fullsend-langfuse.yaml:
- Line 50: Update the OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_TRACES_ENDPOINT setting in this job to
use the trace-specific endpoint when configured; otherwise, derive it from
OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_ENDPOINT by appending /v1/traces so manual verification can
export traces with only the general endpoint configured.
- Line 51: Update the workflow’s OTLP environment configuration to pass
OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_HEADERS to the bridge in addition to
OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_TRACES_HEADERS, and update the bridge’s header handling to
apply general headers alongside trace-specific headers.

Precompute generation parent IDs to avoid quadratic work.
For each agent span, the loop at lines 111-112 scans all spans. It calls attributes(...) on each one. The cost is O(agents × spans). Each attributes() call parses the full attribute list. The input limit is 32 MiB, so a large trace can make this step slow.
Build the set of parent span IDs that already have a generation child once, before the loop.

Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Validate field types and raise a domain-specific error.
The code reads fields from untrusted artifact JSON and uses them without type checks:
usage = metrics.get("token_usage") or {} accepts any truthy value. Line 136 then calls usage.get(fallback). A list or string raises AttributeError.
stage is taken from gen_ai.agent.name at line 151. Line 162 calls stage.capitalize(). A span with boolValue or doubleValue for this attribute raises AttributeError.
The except Exception handler at line 259 aborts the whole artifact file. Valid agent spans in the same file are not exported.
The handler prints only type(error).__name__. The operator sees AttributeError or ValueError. The static messages such as "Invalid trace identity" never reach the log.
Add a ValueError subclass with safe messages. Raise it on type violations. Print its message in the handlers at lines 242-245 and 259-263. Do not print messages of other exceptions: float("abc") includes the artifact value in its message.

Review comment at @.fullsend/scripts/langfuse-post-run.py at line 128:
Validate untrusted telemetry fields before type-specific use: require
token_usage to be a dictionary and gen_ai.agent.name to be a string when
present, raising a domain-specific ValueError subclass with safe messages for
invalid types. Update the exception handlers around generation export and
artifact processing to include that message only for this validation error,
while keeping other exception output limited to the exception type.

Support the general OTLP endpoint.
If an installation configures only OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_ENDPOINT, Fullsend can use that endpoint, but this job passes an empty trace endpoint. The script then rejects every export, including manual verification. When the trace-specific endpoint is absent, derive the traces URL from the general endpoint by appending /v1/traces. Update the OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_TRACES_ENDPOINT setting in this job to use the
trace-specific endpoint when configured; otherwise, derive it from
OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_ENDPOINT by appending /v1/traces so manual verification can
export traces with only the general endpoint configured.

Pass general OTLP headers to the bridge.
If an installation configures authorization only in OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_HEADERS, Fullsend receives that secret, but this job does not pass it to the bridge. The bridge reports Missing configured export authorization, so generation and verification exports fail. Pass the general headers and make the bridge apply them alongside any trace-specific headers. Update the workflow’s OTLP environment configuration to pass
OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_HEADERS to the bridge in addition to
OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_TRACES_HEADERS, and update the bridge’s header handling to
apply general headers alongside trace-specific headers.

If you could add the ticket to the PR title that would be great. Also, @anik120 if you could investigate the failing full send Review Github job that would be great.
Moderate risk: a small two-file CI/infra addition with a new workflow and helper script; elevated CI-workflow signal is offset by no dependency changes, no security-sensitive files, a known non-bot author, and no application source modifications.
[protected-path].github/workflows/fullsend-langfuse.yaml — PR modifies a file under the protected path .github/ but has no linked issue or description explaining why the governance/infrastructure file is being changed. Human approval is always required for protected-path changes.
Remediation: Link a tracking issue that documents the rationale for adding a new workflow under .github/.
[missing-authorization] PR-level — This PR adds a new Langfuse telemetry export pipeline (~330 lines across a new CI workflow and Python script) but has no linked issue. The PR body is the default template with no description filled in and no type-of-change selected. Non-trivial changes introducing new CI infrastructure, external service integrations, and secrets consumption require explicit authorization.
Remediation: Create a tracking issue (e.g. RSPEED-XXXX) documenting the motivation for Langfuse integration, the expected data flow, required secrets/vars, and any security review. Link it in the PR title per project conventions.
Medium
[design-direction].fullsend/scripts/langfuse-post-run.py — The script is labeled "Generated by uie-fullsend langfuse-setup" yet is committed as a 268-line Python file. No ADR or AGENTS.md reference establishes the .fullsend/ directory as a project convention, and the ownership model is unclear: if truly generated, it should be regenerated rather than hand-edited; if repository-owned, the comment is misleading and it should follow project coding standards (docstrings, type annotations).
[design-direction].github/workflows/fullsend-langfuse.yaml — Introduces consumption of new repository-level secrets (OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_TRACES_HEADERS) and variables (OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_TRACES_ENDPOINT, OTEL_RESOURCE_ATTRIBUTES) connecting the CI pipeline to an external Langfuse/OTLP endpoint. Without a linked issue or ADR, there is no documented authorization for this new external dependency.
Low
[missing-test].fullsend/scripts/langfuse-post-run.py — 268 lines of Python with non-trivial parsing (OTLP span extraction, attribute encoding, payload construction, URL validation) has zero unit tests.
[edge-case].fullsend/scripts/langfuse-post-run.py:121 — int(agent["startTimeUnixNano"]) raises KeyError if the span lacks these fields; the broad except Exception catches it but the error message will be unhelpful for debugging malformed telemetry.
[data-exposure].fullsend/scripts/langfuse-post-run.py:228 — OTEL_RESOURCE_ATTRIBUTES values are forwarded to Langfuse without allowlist filtering. Sensitive data accidentally placed in the variable would be exposed to the backend.
[injection-vuln].fullsend/scripts/langfuse-post-run.py:148 — The model value from untrusted artifact telemetry data is used in span name strings without length or character validation. Impact is limited to data quality in the observability backend.
[misleading-label] PR-level — No labels applied. This new CI telemetry infrastructure feature would benefit from labeling for triage and changelog generation.
