independent bounded contexts instead of reusing the overall 3-minute ctx. In the
suppression phase, execute each /usr/bin/id probe with its own short-lived
context and cancel it after the call; then use a separate bounded context for
countID. Preserve the existing assertions and cooldown timing.

🔵 Needs a closer look
Privileged runtime provisioning and production ancestry changes warrant final human review despite the reported passing validation.

What changed in this PR
Stabilizes component CI and fixes runtime profile recording defects exposed by more reliable tests.
Changes:
- Uses guarded native Kubernetes runners, owned network fixtures, readiness checks, and bounded diagnostics.
- Strengthens component probes, alert polling, and profile assertions.
- Preserves delayed ancestry, exports numeric UID/GID values, and skips unresolved empty paths.

Review effort: Balanced
Component tests intermittently lost syscall events after GitHub rolled out Ubuntu 24.04 kernel
7.0.0-1017-azure. A faulty backport causes affected BPF syscall programs to execute on only one CPU. Use Ubuntu 22.04 for component jobs, following Inspektor Gadget’s merged workaround for the runner regression. Return to Ubuntu 24.04 when its fixed kernel is deployed; Ubuntu 22.04 runners retire April 17, 2027.Run Kubernetes v1.35.0 directly on disposable hosted VMs through Minikube’s none driver. Kind mixes CRI/procfs PIDs with initial-kernel PIDs, breaking ancestry even when all execs are captured; its maintainers document this limitation. Guard setup against local/self-hosted execution and existing clusters, verify downloads, and require matching CRI/hostPID identities and pod-to-fixture HTTP connectivity. The none/containerd combination is implemented but labeled untested upstream; the CI preflights validate this setup.
Gate the test chart on the agent’s existing
/readyzendpoint. Previously PodReady preceded tracing by over a minute, allowing the unchanged ten-second job to finish before capture began. Replace public DNS/HTTP destinations in the basic test with two owned nginx endpoints outside Kubernetes inventory and an authoritative reserved DNS zone. Run that test three times with caching disabled.Check exec failures with bounded contexts, use non-TTY probes outside the dedicated TTY test, and wait for active profile enforcement before sensitive assertions. Keep exactly twenty counted cooldown probes and exactly ten alerts, the additional suppression probes, the one-shot depth-ten process tree, and positive/negative path, TTY and profile-reload assertions. Request full profile payloads so path checks inspect actual data. Preserve the last successful diagnostic count when a final fetch times out. Give cooldown probes, alert polling and the final fetch independent bounded contexts so slow delivery cannot consume later phases’ deadlines.
Fix the product defects exposed by this evidence: preserve unresolved parent edges until later events can complete ancestry; export UID/GID values instead of pointer addresses; and omit unresolved empty file paths before storage normalizes them into
.. Successful opens with missing identity mark capture partial; valid root paths, named failed opens and runtime event processing remain intact. Regressions cover delayed/foreign parents and cycles, real HTTP exporter payloads, request cancellation, and real datasource-backed open events. The ancestry and empty-path regressions failed before their fixes and pass afterward.Make component failures fail CI, retain the complete matrix, pin tool/chart versions, and collect bounded logs, events, full profiles, rules, metrics, runtime versions and goroutine dumps. Attribution-drop counters distinguish missing container identity from dispatch failures.
Validation: local normal/race tests for the changed Go packages, vet, component compilation, Helm lint/render, ShellCheck, actionlint and whitespace checks pass. Both the first full component matrix and the full matrix on the final commit passed 31/31, each including all three basic-test repetitions. Final Go checks passed. The final open-path artifact contains 1,082 actual opens across 23 full profiles with no empty or relative paths. The final benchmark passed, as did the preceding benchmark. Independent code review found no remaining issues.
