Pin a patched Go 1.27 release.
This exact pin keeps local toolchain users on Go 1.27.0. Go 1.27.2, released October 8, 2026, includes security fixes to the go command and standard-library packages. (go.dev) Update this pin and the matching GOTOOLCHAIN fallback together.

Approve: this fixes the remaining local-toolchain mismatch after #974. Reviewed 3e40c7718a7cd12b81048412c1fc3d65875365a2 against main at 02f0bf7b21fd98da0d6f6935d3c49503d6978738; the complete diff is the single .tool-versions entry. No confirmed blocking defects found.
The current target pins 1.24.4 while go.mod:3 requires 1.27, the workflows select 1.27, and README documents Go 1.27+. The new entry satisfies that requirement without changing application code, public interfaces, dependencies, CI, or release-image selectors. With default automatic toolchain switching, the old version need not fail every build; the benefit is correcting developer setup and avoiding an unnecessary switch/download, including failures when automatic switching is disabled.
Nonblocking: the existing bot thread recommends 1.27.2. Official release history now lists 1.27.3 with additional security fixes, so prefer that patch for the new pin. Updating the existing tests/scripts/test-hostdata-gc.sh:33 fallback alongside it would keep exact selectors aligned. No concrete exploit or production-build regression was established, so this is not a merge blocker for this narrow configuration correction.
History: merged #974 established Go 1.27 but omitted this file; this PR completes rather than duplicates that migration. Merged #86 is an older version-alignment change, not a replacement. Repository-wide GitHub PR/issue searches across all states used tool-versions, Go 1.27, golang/version, asdf, mise, toolchain, and 1.24.4 (100-result cap per query). No superseding fix or relevant rejected pinning approach was found; search indexing is not exhaustive. Closed hits #823 and #724 were unrelated: #823 explicitly rejected an SBOM naming-contract change, not a toolchain change; #724 provides no relevant maintainer decision.
Validation: API comparison and a local Python assertion check confirmed exactly one changed file, valid single-entry syntax, old pin below the module minimum, and new pin satisfying it. DCO, GitGuardian, and CodeRabbit checks succeeded on the reviewed head; no build/test CI result is present. No repository code, toolchain installation, build, tests, or lint was executed because a credential-free isolated execution environment was not established. Static validation is proportionate to this one-line selector change, but does not prove installation on every asdf/mise platform.
Immediately before submission, the PR remained open, non-draft, mergeable, with unchanged head/base and no new reviews or inline responses. Independent code and architecture reviews both identified patch drift; I classify it as nonblocking because neither established a concrete introduced failure scenario. Verdict: approve.
