I can confirm it's outdated I get on load Undefined variable: g:deoplete#omni#input_patterns

Please don't use deoplete#util#set_pattern().
It is not documented internal function.
So it is removed.

If you need the function, please define it in your vimrc.

He gives a bit of code to replace it but I don't have time to make it work for now.
