The argument for canonical_names supplied to wit_component::embed_component_metadata wasn't the correct default, and was causing downstream errors:

Error: import `wasi:io/poll@0.2.6` and import `wasi:io/poll@0.2.0` both have the canonical name `wasi:io/poll@0.2`; semver-compatible imports must be merged before emitting canonical names
