Closes #411. The helper wraps
_parse_openephys_settings(raise_error=False)so detection stays single-sourced rather than duplicating XML-walking logic. I have kept theraise_errorparameter on the reader for now to avoid breaking existingraise_error=Falsecallers; it can be removed once they migrate.
