Stop animPreviousInterval and pending addItem timeouts in destroy(), guard async callbacks with a destroyed flag, and auto-destroy when the gallery node is removed from the DOM via MutationObserver.
Bind start/end lifecycle handlers with Q.addEventListener({passive: false})
instead of jQuery .on(), so preventDefault works when selecting items
(e.g. chat subscription) without Chrome console interventions.
