Apply schema migrations before deploying the app image
When the selected commit contains a Prisma migration, this runbook sends the operator directly from publishing to deploying the app digest, but the workflow applies migrations only to its disposable runner database and the runtime image starts node server.js without migrating the deployment database. docs/SELF_HOSTING.md explicitly requires running the same-commit migrator target before the app image, so following these new instructions can start application code against an outdated schema; publish a corresponding migrator image or require that migration step here before deployment.

docs/SELF_HOSTING.mdpresents the GitHub-runner/GHCR/digest deployment flow as current, while Deferred follow-ups still describes that work as deferred. Reconcile the two sections so self-hosters know which procedure to follow.

- The version-setting instruction in
docs/SELF_HOSTING.mdappears redundant because the Docker build already setsAPP_VERSION. Remove it or clarify when it applies.

Staging still builds on the application VPS and bakes in the temporary hostname. Allow the manual container workflow on staging with its own branch-restricted GitHub environment and validate its final URL, app environment and Clerk key before publishing. Add CI coverage for those checks and document the backup, approval and migration gates before deployment.
Validation: eight focused configuration tests, actual staging configuration through the workflow CLI, type checking and 2,104 passing unit tests. Lint has 79 existing warnings and no errors. Image publishing does not deploy or change DNS.
