PowerHour is a private, local calendar and task-planning companion for Linux. It follows the visual and runtime conventions of LockIn and WorkIt: a small Python service owns the data, while a dedicated browser-app window provides the interface.
- Welcome summary with first start, last finish, activity counts, and only the day's high-importance details.
- Live View next timeline, optional starts before the scheduled time, nested step-by-step activities, early completion, automatically unified free-time blocks, and an all-history outcome backlog.
- Manually revealed View all and monthly Calendar pages.
- One-off and recurring activities: daily, alternate days, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, weekdays, and weekend days.
- A per-activity Personal option. Personal plans appear in green on Welcome, View All, and Calendar and still receive reminders, but stay outside the work timeline, LockIn schedule boundaries, backlog, and progress statistics.
- Fractional nested completion, daily progress, and an all-success congratulations state.
- A background notification service that reminds you 30 minutes before an activity and persists delivery markers across restarts.
No third-party Python packages or build step are required.
cd /home/indiana/Personal/PowerHour
python3 app.py --openThe service listens only on 127.0.0.1. Brave, Chrome, or Chromium is opened
in application mode. If none is available, the terminal prints the local URL.
Run the source-controlled user-level installer once:
/home/indiana/Personal/PowerHour/scripts/install-user-service.shThis installs and enables only:
~/.config/systemd/user/powerhour.service~/.local/share/applications/powerhour.desktop
It does not require administrator access. Remove those integrations, while keeping all activities, with:
/home/indiana/Personal/PowerHour/scripts/uninstall-user-service.shSaved data lives at:
~/.local/share/powerhour/powerhour.sqlite3
View All and Calendar are intentionally covered after every UI load until their View box is ticked. PowerHour has no cloud service or account.
