Commenting so this can be assigned to me. I'll work on this after #284 and #285, using a small configurable subset (list of variables plus a start/end datetime tuple) as discussed in #276.

Dear @stevehadd, #286 notebook depends on #284 and #285 work, both still unmerged. Which base branch is preferred:
developor285-demo-notebook? Will follow your preference.
