Allow placing openning curly braces on the next line

As stated in the current documenation:
Opening curly brace symbols ({) must be on the same line (i.e. the last token of the statement, not on a line of their own).
But my code style doesn't allow placing opening curly braces on the same line. Why is this restriction necessary?

I'd like it to be regulated through .editorconfig like everywhere else.
