Turn off live preview

I'm still using brackets because once I launch a webpage, i can click the lightning bolt off so that every time I make changes and save the code it is not refreshed automatically. I NEED that feature as I'm writing a lot of backend server code in PhP and do not want it updating all the time on its own. Is there a way I can turn off the live preview and allow me to refresh the page myself thru the browser by clicking the browsers refresh button or Ctrl+F5?
Current in Phoenix code the lightning bolt is half lit up. I don't know what that means

Hey @jimlimeworks, not sure if I understood your question correctly, but you can just turn off the live preview by clicking the lightning bolt icon, that will hide the panel.
A half-lit lightning bolt means the live preview is connecting.
BTW, Phoenix is getting a new update next month that will make Live Preview much more powerful. Hope to see you using Phoenix soon! ;-)

But what i understood is that we should expose an option to not update live preview on every save. That is a good feature request to add @devvaannsh .

That is a good to have feature. But the problem is that students might unknowingly turn that feature on (Don't update live preview on every save) and might not realise it. they would have problem identifying why the live preview is not updating.
Also, #2335 this would be very helpful. What do you think? @abose

When working with php backends, we may need to only call backend at specific times in some cases. For eg when testing a login flow, it will be quite hard to develop if the preview keels reloading on typing. Likely some thing of that sort is happening here. The live preview settings are only applied to the project and not globally, so its effect is restricted for misconfiguration.
