NGR Discussions

👋 Welcome!

We’re using Discussions as a place to facilitate communication between members of the Saleem lab at IBN and NeuroGEARS. This is intended as a more informal forum than Issues for us all to post / answer questions and discuss ideas which may or may not be promoted to issues to resolve. These are visible to everyone with access to the repository to maximise flow of information and help standardise ideas and build consensus across the lab.

Examples of relevant discussion use cases would include (but not be limited to):

• Asking specific questions about your bonsai workflows.
• Asking conceptual questions about an experiment you would like to do
• Discussing best practices for Bonsai, version control, data logging, code management and collaboration on code writing
• Share ideas and concerns
• Proposals from NeuroGEARS or the research team to tackle identified milestones or issues

How to post

As mentioned, the intention is for Discussions to be less formalised than an Issue, but more structured than a chat channel. A discussion does not need to be closed or neccessarily have a resolution or milestone. With this in mind, one can create a new Discussion or, even more general, Discussion topic to post to the group.

Typically you will create a new Discussion in the general category, give it a meaningful, informative title and simply post your question or idea!

• Do not be shy about posting! Discussions can be changed, edited, updated or converted to or back from issues at any point so do not feel restricted in what you can post.
• Link existing issues and resources: like many of GitHub's features, Discussions are written in markdown format, which gives great flexibility in formatting and presentation, as well as easy linking to existing issues and resources.

Having said that, bear in mind that this is not a private chat channel: discussions are shared with anyone that has access to the repository, so avoid personal or super-sensitive information.
